The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) connects youth and caregivers with caring counselors and peers who can help with challenges big or small. Support is available by:

🍎 Important CalFresh update for adults receiving food benefits.

Starting June 1, 2026, some adults ages 18–64 who receive CalFresh may need to meet certain work requirements to continue receiving benefits for more than 3 months within a 36-month period, unless they qualify for an exemption.

If you currently receive CalFresh — or plan to apply — it’s important to understand these upcoming changes and whether they may affect you.

You could qualify for important tax credits and refunds — even if you didn’t make a lot of money last year. JBAY shared that current and former foster youth are receiving an average tax return of $1,857 for the 2025 tax year 👀

The Gateway Cities “Home to Employment” program helps connect former foster youth to:

✔️ Job training & employment services
✔️ Education support

✔️ Case management & workshops

This program serves youth in multiple Southeast LA County cities including Compton, Lynwood, Paramount, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Lakewood, Bell Gardens, Hawaiian Gardens, and more.
