Last Friday, NSBE LA Professionals arranged for 5 interested NSBE college students to learn from Stephan Tucker, General Manager of Water Replenishment District. Stephan shared inspirational stories and gave much advice to the students spanning his college experiences through to his current position. Monica Sijder also gave a quick tour of the treatment plant which gave the students an appreciation of a T5 water treatment plant. All 5 students will be attending the Orange County Water Summit this Friday in Costa Mesa and are interested in learning more about opportunities in the water industry.

NSBE CSU Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona students on the trip were : Jonathan Hurd jr, Hillena Mehari, Elisha Longino, Adam Saikali and Reuben Olelewe

To continue our Board Spotlight Series, we are honoring three of our communications zone leaders driving our storytelling, media, and digital reach on our 2025–2026 Executive Board: Brock Headen, Ariel Narine, and John Obamedo! 🌟

From keeping our community connected to capturing our impact, these Communications Zone leaders make sure NSBE LA’s voice is heard loud and clear:
🚀 Brock Headen (VP of Communications) – Dynamics Engineer at SpaceX who led our overarching communications zone strategy, manages our newsletters, and kept our chapter communications running.

📸 John Obamedo (Photographer + Videographer) – Semiconductor TPM with dual master’s degrees who used his lens to capture our community impact and ensure Black professionals feel seen and empowered.

📱 Ariel Narine (Social Media Manager) – Aeronautical Engineer and USC graduate who drove our digital content and engaged our community across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
