📦💔 Pug was abandoned in a cardboard box with a broken leg. Today, this brave little girl is healed, happy, and ready for her next chapter—but she needs a foster or adopter. 🥹

At just 5 months old, Pug is sweet, friendly, playful, and full of personality. She loved snuggling in bed with her previous foster, isn’t even afraid of the vacuum (braver than most of us! 🫣), and would LOVE a young cat or kitten friend to play with.

Xyla is a sweet 7-month-old kitten with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). Cats with CH are sometimes called “wobblers.” It’s a nonprogressive neurological condition that affects coordination, balance, and motor skills. It’s not contagious, not painful, and doesn’t get worse, and CH cats live a normal lifespan. 💕

Xyla is a petite girl who is more of a crawler than a walker. She needs a little extra help eating and drinking, and a clear path to her litter box. But she is 100% a sweetie.

Caring for a CH kitty is easier than you’d think: non-slip rugs, padded areas, play pens, a low-sided litter box, and shallow food bowls go a long way.

🖤 It’s Black Cat Awareness Month! 🐈‍⬛

Black cats are some of the most overlooked cats in shelters, but the myths surrounding them don’t tell the whole story. From superstitions to outdated beliefs about their personalities, black cats can face an extra hurdle when it comes to finding forever homes.

Here are a few things worth knowing:
🐈‍⬛ Black cats aren’t bad luck. That superstition is just that—a superstition. In many cultures, black cats are actually considered symbols of good fortune.

🐈‍⬛ They are just as affectionate, playful, and silly as any other cat. Fur color doesn’t determine personality.

🐈‍⬛ They’re often harder to photograph. Black fur can make their features less visible in shelter photos, which means they may not always get the attention they deserve online.

🐈‍⬛ Black cats deserve to be adopted year-round. While October brings extra attention to black cats, they need loving homes long after spooky season ends.

🐈‍⬛ Adult cats are worth a second look. They’re often calmer than kittens, their personalities are more established, and they still have so many years of love to give.

This month, look a little closer at the black cats waiting for homes. You might just find your new best friend. 🖤🐾

Model cat alert! ‼️Lobelia is a newer intake at STRAY CAT ALLIANCE after being found abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of a road. She is 3 years old and has a gorgeous calico coat.

After being evaluated by our team, she’s currently removing a flea treatment and a few other minor medical treatments, but will be available for foster and adopt soon.

🖤 Black Cat Awareness Month is the purr-fect time to meet Darby & Smitty. 🖤

At 4.5 years old, these bonded sweethearts are past the kitten chaos and ready for a calm home where they can settle in. Black cats are often overlooked because of lingering myths and stigma, and shy cats like Darby and Smitty can be especially easy to miss.

Darby is a gentle girl and Smitty is her sweet boy companion. Both were VERY shy at first, but incredibly gentle, and opened up with their foster (swipe for cuddle pics). They’ll need an adopter who understands that trust takes time—and that some of the best bonds are built slowly. 🖤

Their ideal home would be quiet and calm, with one or two chill humans. A home without kids or dogs would be best.

And 4 is a great age to adopt. They’ve grown out of the kitten
chaos but still have so many playful, loving years ahead. 🐈‍⬛
