RAM - Rethinking Access to Marijuana

RAM - Rethinking Access to Marijuana We seek to prevent ma*****na-related harms by limiting youth access to ma*****na. RAM neither supports nor opposes any specific legislation.

Rethinking Access to Ma*****na (RAM) is a collaboration of public health professionals seeking to prevent ma*****na-related harms by limiting youth access to ma*****na in the County of Los Angeles. This group was established with the vision of educating communities about the potential harms of ma*****na use; implementing and evaluating environmental strategies formulated to limit youth accessibility to and availability of ma*****na; and influencing policy actions that support flourishing youth and communities free from ma*****na-related harms. Rather, we take a prevention-oriented public health approach, educating policymakers and communities about ways to protect youth from the potential harms of ma*****na use and abuse.

Remember that protecting your mental health also means understanding how substances like cannabis can affect our well being.

National Prevention Week is from May 10-16. This year, we want to celebrate the theme: Stronger Together: Prevention Through Connection. We can step up and advocate for communities that are free of substance use, particularly for our youth.

This NPW, let's come together and have conversations about the real harms of substances like cannabis and whether we want our youth to grow up in environments plagued by secondhand smoke and products that can impact their educational journeys.

One in four road deaths in Colorado involve ma*****na. Let that sink in.

Ma*****na-impaired driving is deadly. Colorado saw a 138% increase in THC-impaired driving deaths since legalization. In states where ma*****na is legal, traffic fatalities tied to THC have skyrocketed.
Almost half of teenagers who regularly use ma*****na admit they've gotten behind the wheel while stoned.

Drivers with THC in their system are 10x more likely to be in a crash.

Don’t believe the myth that driving high is safer. The data is clear. Lives are being lost.

Using THC-laced edibles and smoking ma*****na are both linked to early signs of cardiovascular disease, a new study found.
