The Spiritist Institute

The Spiritist Institute’s mission is to advance Spiritism in the English-speaking world.

Spiritism is a progressive body of knowledge that studies the origin, nature, and destiny of Spirits, as well as their relationship to the physical world. Its scientific approach is matched by a philosophical questioning style to address age-old questions of deep moral implications, such as how we can best lead our lives individually and collectively. As such, we believe Spiritism can have an enormous contribution to one’s life and the world in general.

As a new body of knowledge, however, Spiritism is still widely unknown in many parts of the world. While it enjoys significant recognition in countries of Portuguese, French, and Spanish language, English-speaking geographies remain largely unaware of its deep and charitable ideals. The Institute seeks to change that.

We do so by focusing on increasing public exposure to Spiritism and access to Spiritist resources. We believe these are the first and the required steps to getting to know and engaging with Spiritism. Without first being exposed to Spiritist ideals, one cannot possibly know they exist. Without having access to Spiritist materials and resources, one cannot possibly begin to engage with Spiritism. Once an individual engages with Spiritism, it is our hope it may ripple through her or his live in deeply comforting and positive ways. That is our ultimate goal.
