"One child. Two homelands. A thousand reasons to act."

At the American-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, we believe in strong transatlantic ties — not just in business and diplomacy, but in protecting the rights and well-being of our communities’ most vulnerable: our children.

Many American-Hungarian families face overwhelming legal and institutional barriers when raising children across borders. Custody battles, inconsistent school policies, and systemic gaps in child protection leave families — and especially children — without proper support.

This issue is not isolated. It is systemic.

We respectfully urge our U.S. and Hungarian partners and institutions to address:

The lack of cross-border legal safeguards for children

The urgent need for trauma-informed school and court responses

The protection of American children abroad through diplomatic and legal advocacy

We echo the growing call from parents, professionals, and advocates: our systems must do better.

We are proud to stand behind initiatives like the emerging For Two Homelands Foundation, supporting children and families with dual heritage who are caught between two systems.
