Lauri Carlton, was shot and killed on Friday for flying a flag in support of the LGBQT+ community.

In 2018 she hosted an event at her store in Studio City to raise awareness about the benefits of trees and the loss of the tree canopy in Los Angeles. She highlighted Angelenos for Trees advocacy and generously shared the proceeds from the evening with us. It was our first public facing event and we will always be deeply grateful to her.

She was brave, had a strong moral compass, and was deeply committed to making the world a better place.

We encourage everyone to save a tree or plant a tree in her memory.

We are all obsessed with plants and for good reason. They are proven to improve our mood, purify our air, and even keep cities dramatically cooler on hot days. So with mental health struggles, air pollution, and deadly heatwaves on the rise – why are governments so slow to plant more of them?

The City continue to fails to recognize that shade is important infrastructure and necessary as Los Angeles continues to experience extreme heat.

If you want to know what kind of mayor he’s been for Los Angeles, just look down.

On this National Arbor Day Jacky addresses the impacts of the City of Los Angeles and the State of California's failure to protect the urban forest from deforestation due to pressures from development. The tree devastation in this general area is representative of why there is an overall decline of the urban tree canopy in Los Angeles. The lack of coordination and consideration for the benefits of the urban forest continues to plague the ability of the City and State to adequately address air pollution, extreme heat and climate change.
