Today is the birthday of our dear friend, legendary rock musician Eddie Money! God’s light shined through him so brightly, showing us how to live by the words of Ephesians 4. Eddie’s care & concern for the men & women of law enforcement, military, first responders, veterans, & their loved ones, was a blessing to all. He raised funds and awareness to help them through the music video we made together, One More Soldier. He was a wonderful and amazing person!

Eddie Money was following in his father’s foot steps with the NYPD before he moved to California to pursue his legendary music career. His brother was also a police officer and served in the military. Eddie utilized his fame to help first responders, law-enforcement and military servicemen and women who were injured and traumatized in the line of duty as well as the families who lost their heroic loved ones.

Eddie Money spent every 9/11 anniversary honoring those first responders whose acts of service above self have saved many American lives. Eddie asked me to help him produce a music video for his song, “One More Soldier” to raise funds and awareness for families of fallen heroes. I then joined him every 9/11 in paying tribute to those selfless Americans. September 11, 2019 was the first time we were not able to participate together in a ceremony for Americas Heroes. He had stage 4 esophageal cancer and I was incarcerated through a false political prosecution. Eddie passed away two days later.

California inmates came together in a county jail chapel to hold a memorial service for Eddie Money. He touched many lives during that service and helped several people find Christ. I prayed to be able to return To helping heroes and their families through Eddie’s story and his One More Soldier Music video. I had no idea that one year later on 9/11/2020 I’d be stationed at a CDCR prison fire camp during the worst fire season in California history. Less than 48 hours after my fellow Inmate firefighters were nearly killed in the line of duty. Honor to know these heroes. Eddie Money and I shared his story and music video again this 9/11 with these courageous firefighters. They were on a short rest stop between saving countless lives and homes in the northern California wildfires. Two days ago they came to close to losing their own lives on the bear fire and feather Falls and they’re preparing to do it all over again. Their strength in the face of danger is a true inspiration.

By the grace of God, we have the opportunity to stand together in honor of all the men and women who risk their lives every day for our families, our friends, our neighbors, our communities and our country.
