In honor of National Voter Registration Day, AOUON was out in the community at Ted Watkins Park hosting a voter registration event! It was a great day of civic engagement, with community members registering to vote while enjoying some pizza!
A special shoutout to ANWOL residents Priscilla and Monique, who did an amazing job engaging with the community, and Jose, who brought his usual energy and enthusiasm!
Also, congratulations to Monique, who registered the most voters and won a $100 gift card!
Thank you to everyone who joined us and took an important step toward making their voices heard!

Jose C. of All of Us or None Los Angeles/Long Beach, part of A New Way of Life, recently participated in the 2026 Journey for Justice a transformative three-day experience focused on civic engagement, leadership, legislative advocacy, and community healing.

From Los Angeles to Sacramento, Jose had the opportunity to connect with community leaders and lawmakers, including Assemblymember Sade Elhawary, while advocating for policies that impact our communities.

As Jose shared, “The trip was a transformative three-day experience uniting civic engagement, leadership development, direct legislative advocacy, and community healing.”

We’re proud to see our community members turning lived experience into leadership and change.

This past Tuesday we celebrated a year of advocacy, community, and legislative wins!

Our 2026 Legislative Year end BBQ was an opportunity to honor our accomplishments, celebrate the astounding impact of our Advocacy Fellows, and come together as we continue building the movement.

Here's to the work we've done & the work still ahead. Join us in creating lasting change.

Welcome home.

We were honored to celebrate the return of two elder community members. Everyone deserves to come home to stable housing, support, and dignity.

That's why All of Us or None proudly co-sponsors AB 1229, legislation that would invest in long-term reentry housing and help ensure people have the resources they need to successfully return home.

Housing is public safety. Housing is reentry. Join us in advocating for policies that put people before punishment.

Today, Jose and Jared from the Policy & Advocacy Department at A New Way of Life stood before the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to advocate for keeping Measure J funding in the County budget.

Measure J dollars represent an investment in people, families, and safer communities by supporting reentry services, housing, healing, and opportunities for those returning home. We must continue investing in solutions that break cycles of incarceration and create pathways to success.

Thank you, Jose and Jared for using your voice to champion policies that strengthen our communities. The work continues.

A New Way of Life's Policy and Advocacy Manager, Michelle Chambers, had the opportunity to attend the Harbor Women’s PACT meeting, where she shared resources available to women returning to the community after incarceration, as well as those who are system-impacted.

There were meaningful conversations about advocacy, current legislation, and the direction we want to take to build a stronger future for the next generation. These discussions remind us that lasting change happens when we come together, share knowledge, and invest in opportunities that empower women and strengthen our communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated and continues to do the work to create pathways for hope, healing, and second chances.

On June 30th, A New Way of Life Policy & Advocacy Team joined the California Black Power Network in Sacramento to advocate for legislation that advances justice and accountability. We met with elected officials to support bills that expand reentry opportunities and AB 2599, which promotes corporate transparency by requiring businesses to disclose historical ties to and profits from slavery. Together, we're working to build a more just and equitable California.

Every conversation, connection, and act of solidarity brings us closer to a future where everyone has the chance to thrive.
