Pray for America

Communities across our nation have been devastated by environmental disasters—hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, powerful winds, and wildfires. Los Angeles has not been immune to these hardships. Many of these disasters exceed the ability of local communities to recover on their own.

In times like these, the strength of the human spirit shines brightest. Let us pray that our Lord’s spirit moves through us, bringing us together as a nation to offer whatever aid we can—whether through a listening ear, a comforting embrace, or a charitable contribution.

May our leaders be guided by compassion and wisdom as they work to support the full recovery of these communities. And may their leadership inspire others to serve as models of resilience, unity, and hope.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Maritza Manzanarez (15 Mar 1966 - 8 Jan 2025; San Salvador), the beloved mother of SSgt Herrera, Bryan, one of our own in the Los Angeles Young Marines' family. Maritza was a cornerstone of our program, never missing an opportunity to support her son or our events. She generously contributed her time and energy—whether through cooking, supervising, or offering social support to other parents and youth. Her warmth and dedication touched us all 🙏

Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to Bryan and his family during this difficult time. Maritza’s legacy of kindness and community will forever remain in our hearts 🙏

Wishing You and Yours a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

As we celebrate this miracle of our faith, let us pray that the leaders of this nation truly represent the needs of the homeless, the hungry, struggling families, those afflicted with mental and physical illnesses, and in trust them with our nation’s health and safety. Let us also pray that our nation’s resources and energy are directed toward these noble purposes, rather than toward enriching those who are already Blessed with abundance.

May our leaders refrain from placing our nation and military in harm’s way for the interests of a privileged few who already possess the means to support themselves and their families.

Wishing you and yours a Wonderful Christmas Season and a Blessed New Year!

Today is a tragic day in our nation’s history. During a presidential rally, an assassination attempt was made on a candidate for President of the United States. One person was killed, and two others were critically wounded. These are trying times. In our democracy, we should strive to debate and argue our positions without fear of persecution, especially without fear of death. Hopefully, this incident will help us understand that the current state of affairs may lead our disagreements to violent acts. Is this the America we want for our children? We must stand up against these injustices. Let us pray for the families that lost their love ones, those that had their love ones critically injured, and our nation!

One Blessed thing of this deadly shooting is that the Presidential candidate appears to have survived the assassination attempt with only a physical scar.

Let Us Never Forget…

Today, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Although Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by Congress in 1971, the tradition of honoring our fallen heroes began in 1866. Communities across states like Mississippi, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Illinois decorated graves with flowers to commemorate their sacrifices.

In 1868, the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) established Decoration Day as a day to place flowers on the graves of the fallen. That same year, the GAR held the first Decoration Day at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In 1966, Congress, under President Lyndon Johnson, declared Waterloo, NY, as the birthplace of Memorial Day. Since 1971, when Congress officially declared Memorial Day a national holiday, we have celebrated it on the last Monday of May nationwide.

May every flower placed on the graves, mausoleums, or home mantles near the urns of our fallen remind us that we will never forget the ultimate sacrifices they have made in service to our country.

This Memorial Day Weekend, we honor the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives in defense of our country, the United States of America, "one nation under God." We lower our flags to half-mast in their memory.

Recently, the world lost three devoted individuals who also gave their lives for the love of God and His children: Davy and Natalie Lloyd, and Jude Montis (https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/24/us/american-missionary-couple-haiti/index.html; https://www.timesnownews.com/world/who-was-jude-montis-missionary-killed-by-haiti-gang-alongside-lloyd-couple-article-110427656; https://www.newsnationnow.com/world/father-slain-haiti-missionary-phone-call/). While serving as missionaries in Haiti, their mission complex was attacked by a group of gang members, resulting in the tragic deaths of Davy and Natalie Lloyd, along with the mission director, Jude Montis.

I believe our brothers and sisters would agree that it is for such defenseless individuals, striving to make a better world, that we willingly sacrifice our lives day in and day out. May the spirits of our fallen heroes rise, providing the families of these missionaries with the strength to mourn and celebrate the lives of their loved ones this Memorial Day Weekend.
