As the California Jobs First - Regional Investment Initiative Round 2 Implementation application timeline begins, LAEDC, serving as convenor for the California Jobs First Los Angeles Collaborative, will offer interested partners—including industry project partners and leads—an opportunity to review the RFP in depth, understand the application criteria, and explore potential project cluster coalitions.

Please note: While Bioscience is an open category and projects can still be submitted, Los Angeles County received a $24 million investment for Bioscience in Round 1; therefore, this sector will not be a primary focus for our regional coalition convenings in Round 2. For LA County, the Implementation Round 2 categories are industries that fall within the Accelerate and BET designations defined by the state:

Aerospace & Defense

Clean Energy

Blue Economy

This month, we will be hosting a series of Regional Coalition Convenings for three sectors that qualify for Round 2 Implementation funding:

🌟LAEDC's Senior Director of the Institute for Applied Economics, Shannon Sedgwick, presented an economic overview of U.S. and Los Angeles County trends at State of the Hospitals: Los Angeles County, hosted by LAEDC Board member Hospital Association of Southern California, highlighting both the resilience of the healthcare sector and the challenges hospitals face amid slowing growth, workforce shortages, and seismic retrofit costs. Hospitals remain vital anchors of our regional economy, directly contributing nearly $29 billion in output annually and providing higher-than-average wages across all education levels. We are grateful to participate in this critical discussion on the future of hospitals and community health.
