Volunteer Spotlight: Sean

For more than four years, Sean has been a familiar face at our lunch program. He stays with the kids while they eat, warms up their food, supplements meals from our pantry, and makes time to play, giving our teachers a well-earned break.

As the school year ends, the kids are thanking him with small gifts and big hugs. Sean and the kids will miss each other dearly this summer. Thank you, Sean, for showing up for our kids day after day.

Nothing beats seeing a kid's face light up when they bite into a fresh donut. Our amazing staff picked up treats for the children in our shelter today and the smiles said everything.

Today, GSS hosted a Mental Health Awareness Fair in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month! 💚

Under the leadership of our Mental Health Manager, Marlene, our dedicated staff and volunteers brought together current families and program alumni for a day filled with connection and resources. Attendees learned about mental health services, child care, vision and dental care, parenting classes, and so much more, all from incredible community agencies.

A special thank you to our long-time volunteer Julie for leading a fun, family-friendly yoga session that had everyone smiling! 🧘‍♀️

This Mother’s Day, we celebrated the incredible moms at Good Shepherd Shelter with love, gifts, and community. 💜

From beautiful self-care items and designer handbags (thank you, Amy Calvert!) to handwritten cards from local Girl Scouts, every detail was meant to remind these women: you are seen, valued, and deserving of joy.

For survivors of domestic violence, holidays can be complicated. That’s why moments like these matter so deeply.
