Attention Leaves a Trace: Blessing a Young Tree with Vespera Meng

An expressive arts intervention inviting visitors to slow down and practice care.

Set within a circle of young trees, this work asks a simple question: What changes when attention is offered as a form of care to the more-than-human world?

Visitors are invited to spend time with a single tree—observing, noticing, and forming a quiet connection. Afterward, they may leave a written blessing tied gently to the tree, creating a growing archive of care made visible over time.

Part reflection, part collective gesture, Attention Leaves a Trace reframes blessing not as belief, but as attention—and invites us to consider how even small acts of care can accumulate meaning.

Early December in Bangkok, Creative Migration organized a Climate Action Experience Tour for the second cohort of the Climate Finance Fellowship, following the cohort’s in-person Launch Convening.

As a Surge Climate Talent initiative and supported by , the fellowship brought together 20 mid-career finance leaders from the public and private sectors who are transitioning into core finance roles within mission-driven climate organizations. Over the next year, Fellows will be embedded in 20 Host Organizations across 10 countries in Asia and Africa, working to advance a just and sustainable energy transition.

Hosted at and , the tour connected Fellows with Thailand-based organizations advancing environmental sustainability, circular economy, conservation and community-led impact. We were grateful to learn from PXP Sustainability, Studio UpCircle, , , and , with the evening closing over a shared dinner by .

We were happy to be a part of introducing these cohorts to our amazing partners!

In 2025, Creative Migration shared, gathered and built across borders. From international panels and conferences including Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Los Angeles, Borneo and Brazil, to hosting artists and climate conversations at Bangkok 1899, the year was shaped by collaboration and care. We helped bring the first Bangkok Climate Action Week to life, launched new Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand (CCAT) Field Manual and joined the Group of Friends for Culture-Based Climate Action to advocate for culture within global climate policy.

Onward to another year of art, climate leadership and cultural ecology. ✨

We’re proud to share that Creative Migration and Artsadmin have been awarded a grant from the British Council ’s (CTC) Grant. Lab X Leadership (Lab XL) deepens the partnership between Creative Migration/ (Thailand) and Artsadmin (UK), building on the British Council–supported Lab X exchange in 2024.

While Lab X focused on Thai and British artists, our reflection revealed a broader need: to explore the leadership, systems and cultural production practices that sustain socially engaged work in our respective contexts.

Lab XL centers this inquiry, shifting the focus from artist development to a peer exchange between cultural producers and leaders. Across our organization’s locations, Susannah Tantemsapya, a climate-focused cultural producer based in Thailand and the US, and Raidene Carter, a UK-based cultural leader, will host and contribute to public events, sector dinners, artist-led discussions and workshops. Online sessions will also reconnect Lab X alumni to co-develop the artistic and conceptual drivers for this new phase.

Together, Creative Migration and Artsadmin will explore how cross-cultural leadership, climate justice and care intersect in our roles as producers and how these perspectives can shape more sustainable and equitable models of cultural production in both the UK and Thailand.

Stay tuned for more information!
