Volunteers- please note that unless we send out a cancellation email (in the case of severe weather conditions) we DO plan to harvest. We do harvest in the rain, and we welcome your support- Bring your rain gear!

Sundays from 7 ~ 9 am

Note, all available volunteer opportunities are listed on the sign up page (step 2 above). Since opportunities can vary week to week, that is your guide for this week’s schedule.

Note, we kindly ask that you fill out one form per volunteer, even if you are accompanying a minor or in the same family/group.

Since we limit capacity to 10 volunteers per weekend, we do kindly ask that if you will no longer be able to attend a harvest you had booked, please delete your booking for that date. That way you open up availability for someone else to join us- thank you in advance for your help!

Do not ring the doorbells at our farms, they are private residences.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Bring comfortable closed toed shoes/boots, water, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

We work outdoors, often in full sun, a mask is optional but recommended on days when air quality is poor, please bring your own if you would like to wear one.

While we have a variety of tasks we can use help with, most will require mobility on uneven ground, bending, and lifting which can be a mobility challenge for some. Please contact us ahead of time if you are unsure if this will be a challenge for you.

Please note that only our Degnan Microfarm location has a restroom on site.

VOLUNTEERING AS A MINOR

Committed volunteers 10 years of age and older are welcome at our microfarms on Sunday mornings, with an adult chaperone present at all times. Please note each individual present at the farm will need to complete a volunteer waiver.

Back at it - it's been decades since I've had the physical confidence and balanced state of mind to get back into karate.

Loving the physical nature of self-defense, and the mental nature of focus and balance....

It's hard to carve out time for myself among obligations with the family, teammates, community, and other pressures. But now that I have a little more control, I'm here for the self improvement and protection.

"Make your body a weapon" was a phrase in my family growing up. It's more important for me than it has ever been.

Coming themes are:
🔹 Waste is our biggest problem and should be addressed head on
🔹 Wasting less will improve our economic, environmental, health and quality of life
🔹 Wasting his habitual, and it can be corrected!
🔹 Enjoying the benefits of a less wasteful life will become a pleasure.
🔹 The five aspects of our daily lives to be less wasteful around are what we throw away, how we eat, how we get around, the stuff we wear and what we eat and drink

It's really validating to see your name, company, and staff members printed in a book. Total Garbage is very well researched and written! I just can't put it down. I'm also learning about how microplastics are everywhere, and end up in our bodies.

Can you believe there are 3 unclothed enslaved ancestors on my Ivy grad degree⁉️

Insult to injury paying debt to a university with slaves on my degree. My daughter's hand happened to be in the picture... Maybe she could sense my energy. I thought we'd come a long way.

The history is that originally Ivy League universities would let students pay for their degrees with "collateral" , such as enslaved humans that their families have ripped from their mothers. What did with them, who knows?

I would have thought that by 2013, they would be ashamed of their history, instead of proud of it. But here right up front on my degree next to the Queen of England is an example of Britain's top achievement: state-sanctioned international human trafficking.

🔹I had no idea about the regents system that the colleges and universities are part of through the United Kingdom. This system is still in effect, adhering to the Royal Thrown.

🔹I've had this degree for 10 years and only recently noticed! Now it's going in the garbage. We don't deserve to have its bad energy here in our house.

🔹My wife's degree from Columbia University Teachers College is also from 2013, but does not have this same seal. Maybe that school was a little bit more embarrassed about what it's done than the School of International and Public Affairs.

🔹 Does anybody know what that says in Hebrew at the top of the seal? Same with the Latin. If you tell me, I'll update this caption with that info.
