🇵🇭 Happy Filipino American History Month! 🇺🇸

On October 18, 1587, the first “Luzones Indios” set foot in Morro Bay, California, aboard the Nuestra Señora de Esperanza, a Manila-built galleon ship. That landing marks the beginning of Filipino presence in what is now the United States, and it is the root of this month’s celebration.

For hundreds of years, Filipinos and Filipino Americans have contributed to California and our nation, from the earliest seafarers to the farmworkers, healthcare workers, veterans, civil rights leaders, entertainers, and legal advocates who followed.

As the Philippine American Bar Association, we honor that legacy and carry it forward through service, mentorship, and the pursuit of justice for all.

The Philippine American Bar Association celebrates Governor Gavin Newsom’s appointment of Martin Gonzalez as Judge of the Imperial County Superior Court.

Judge Gonzalez previously served as a Referee at the Imperial County Superior Court since 2022. He also served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Imperial District Attorney’s Office from 2017 to 2022.

We look forward to Judge Gonzalez’s further service to the community and continued success in his legal career!
