Message from the President of Lucas Family Foundation
We live in a world and time of tremendous transformation. Lucas Family Foundation is playing a major role in shaping the changes to come in terms of promoting education, and combating poverty in some of the world´s most deprived, and marginalized communities. Throughout my professional experience, and academic growth I was constantly fascinat
ed by the constant changes in the international community, waiting to understand and explore the causes and effects of current and future human interactions. Having lived both in the United States and Mexico made me want to understand how ¨population dynamics¨ like poverty, fertility and mortality trends, health and disease, migration and immigration, family disintegration, challenges to education, environmental consciousness affect economic growth, political stability, and social welfare in the most marginalized sectors of developing nations. This brought my family, friends, and I to create and give structure to Lucas Family Foundation in 2011; who´s soul mission is to find positive solutions to some of the world´s most challenging concerns. Education currently faces new challenges to international economic and political security from poverty, poor health care, urbanization, aging populations amongst our closest allies in the West, and rapid population growth among developing countries. Today, we have to understand the political and economic implications of unstable governments offering little opportunity to their young and rapidly growing populations. Even more, we have to understand the effect of regional economic migration trends on a nations’ political and economic stability and the economic and security problems created by poor health care infrastructures and infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS. These are the issues Lucas Family Foundation will study closely and addresses during its initial period.
