Early this morning the Illinois General Assembly passed legislation to keep our state at the forefront of protecting ALL communities -- including several of our SALT platform priorities!

As Trump's fascist regime continues to attack our neighbors and separate families, our communities organized to pass meaningful legislation and live up to our state's welcoming values.

Upon signature from the Governor, this legislation will:

✅ Ban civil arrests at and near courthouses.
✅ Adopt protections for people accessing care in hospitals.
✅ Protect student data and establishes safety procedures at public universities.
✅ Affirms that licensed daycare centers cannot allow immigration enforcement agents to enter without a signed judicial warrant or court order.
✅ Provide a clearer avenue for people to seek justice for unlawful arrests and detention.

From community-based rapid response to grassroots organizing that results in real policy wins, Illinois remains at the forefront of the resistance to Trump's fascist regime! The bill now heads to Governor Pritzker's desk for his signature.

Together, we are further committed to continue defending and strengthening the Illinois TRUST Act, and advocating for new legislation that ensures all our community members are treated with dignity and respect.

BREAKING: The Martin Luther King Jr. County Labor Council MLK Labor has sanctioned a strike for nearly 5,000 security officers in Seattle and King County. Security officers are fighting for a fair contract including better pay, better training, stronger benefits and RESPECT. With the solidarity of our union siblings, we won't quit until we are RESPECTED, PROTECTED, and PAID.
