Despite countless barriers, Off-The-Grid Missions has spent the past three years providing humanitarian aid to Deaf communities across Gaza, Palestine. From food, medicine, and shelter to eye exams, bedding, women’s care, and other essentials, aid has reached hundreds of people, providing critical support during unimaginable circumstances.

Happy Deaf Awareness month!

We love gifting our disaster response partners with sign names! Why the turtle for Project: CAMP? Because in the aftermath of a disaster provides free, trauma-informed day camps allow kids to heal and process in the wake of emergencies, giving parents and guardians space to navigate the post-disaster landscape. Following LA Wildfires was when our organizations met and PC had a stuffed turtle - it was instantly reflective of how the shell can feel like a safe haven for children navigating crises, and these camps help children come out when they are ready - so we gifted them the sign of the turtle.

We are honored to be partners during times when families need us most 🤟❤️‍🩹🐢💫

Happy Deaf Awareness Month! This is how you sign “Off-The-Grid Missions” or OTG, the only international disaster response organization serving Deaf communities worldwide.

OTG’s sign name says a lot about how we operate. Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people are often cut off from disaster response due to language barriers and are among the last to receive humanitarian aid. “Off-The-Grid” is how we go beyond traditional approaches, beyond central regions (where aid is commonly accessible) to reach remote communities. “Missions” is our 007 🎯 🗺️ 🔎 🥾 boots on the ground approach to getting aid to these overlooked communities. Organizations like Food For The Poor partner with us to ensure aid reaches those most overlooked.

We are working with local resources to support DeafBlind and DeafDisabled people including Deaf people with injuries as a result of the earthquakes.

Special thank you to our partners at CADENA for helping coordinate wheelchairs, canes, walking sticks, and more as we continue to deliver vital aid to Deaf communities in great need.

During our Hurricane response in Jamaica, Deaf Can! Coffee opened its doors to Off-The-Grid Missions, providing space to receive, store, and coordinate emergency food relief for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people. Their team worked alongside ours, helping unload and organize over 11 tons which is more than 22,000 lbs of supplies during our immediate response efforts. It was one of many examples of the local support that helped us reach communities in the days following the hurricane. As recovery continues, OTG continues looking for new ways to support Jamaica’s Deaf community. Most recently, we made a monetary donation to Deaf Can! Coffee in appreciation of their support and the work they continue to do within the community.

Disasters can deeply disrupt a child’s sense of safety, routine, and connection. For Deaf children, communication barriers can deepen that disruption, leaving them increasingly isolated from information, services, and their broader community. Following the devastating earthquakes in La Guaira, OTG has supported Deaf children and their families at home with food, mattresses, solar technologies, and other essential relief, while also bringing food, reading and coloring materials, and other resources to the local Deaf school to help create moments of normalcy beyond the home.
