Attendees will learn how to: 1-Identify the record groups that connect enslaved and enslaver families, 2-Understand the challenges and opportunities of descendant dialogue, 3-Approach this history with sensitivity while documenting it accurately.

People ask me which AI tool is "the best" for genealogy. Wrong question. The right question is which tool fits the job in front of you. In Episode 41, I used four, each for exactly one thing.

Perplexity is your scout. Before you touch a record, it maps what survives for your specific county, what's indexed, and what you'll have to browse by image, with citations.

Claude is your document analyst. Upload your fragmentary records, the register, the contract, the deed, and it surfaces the clues you missed and lays out a research pathway with reasoning.

NotebookLM is your discipline. It answers only from the documents you give it, so when you need to know what you can actually prove versus what you're assuming, it builds an honest, source-grounded timeline.

ChatGPT is your brainstorm partner. When someone vanishes from the record and you're out of ideas, it lays out the full range of explanations and where to look next.

Four tools. Four jobs. That's the whole method. The Golden Rule still holds: AI is your research assistant, not your researcher.
