Point Foundation

Point Foundation Point Foundation supports the educational aspirations of LGBTQ+ & ally students to become impactful leaders in their lives, careers, and communities.

Point Foundation seeks the partnership of philanthropic individuals, corporations and foundations to supply financial support, professional guidance and a network of contacts for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students who are underprivileged and/or have been socially marginalized — principally by reason of sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity.

What started as a summer internship project turned into published research. 🌈

Point Scholar Noah, a Kadel and Gerhardt Internship Award recipient, used research from last summer’s internship to publish “Centering pleasure in HIV prevention: Provider perspectives on implementing a sex-positive counseling tool for young sexual and gender minorities of color in the United States.”

The research explores a sex-positive approach to HIV prevention for young sexual and gender minorities of color.

We love seeing Point Scholars build on their opportunities and contribute new knowledge to LGBTQ+ and ally communities.

As Point approaches our 25th anniversary, we’re looking back at the Point Alumni who have turned opportunity into lasting impact. 🌈

Point Alum Garrett Zuercher is the founder of Deaf Broadway, bringing greater access and representation to the world of theater. 🎭

Garrett was part of one of Point Foundation’s earliest classes, studying writing and theater arts at Marquette University and serving two terms as president of the university’s Gay-Straight Alliance.

Nearly 25 years later, Point Alumni like Garrett are still showing what’s possible when students have the support to pursue their potential.

“Our resilience is not an accident. It’s our inheritance.”

At Point Foundation’s National Leadership Conference, CEO Jorge Valencia reminded us why education matters so deeply right now.

We’ve always believed education is about far more than earning a degree. It helps people find their voice, build community, and gain the tools to lead.

To every Point Scholar: you are part of a community of leaders shaping what comes next. And we're here to support you every step of the way. 🧡
