The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal service organization that witnesses to its principles of charity, unity and fraternity through spiritual and corporal works of mercy locally and throughout the world. The Knights also promotes the Catholic faith through evangelization initiatives and offers financial security to its members and their families through highly rated financial products and services. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 years of age or older who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. This means that an applicant or member accepts the teaching authority of the Catholic Church on matters of faith and morals, aspires to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and is in good standing in the Catholic Church.

Today, we celebrate the feast day of St. John Henry Newman, Cardinal, Theologian, & Doctor of the Church!

One of the greatest theologians since St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Henry Newman was an Anglican priest who experienced a profound conversion to Catholicism. After spending time in Italy, Newman, through his devotion of St. Phillip Neri, established an oratory in England dedicated to the apostle.

He would eventually be made a cardinal by Pope Leo XIII and establish as his episcopal motto “Cor ad Cor loquitor”, “Heart Speaks to Heart”. This motto serves as inspiration of our Cor initiative!

In August 2025, Pope Leo XIV officially announced the Church’s decision to declare Newman a Doctor of the Church!

This year’s 61st Annual Knights of Columbus College Conference was a truly special one!

Over 200 college knights, chaplains, religious brothers, seminarians, cadets & midshipmen gathered in New Haven in celebration of 250 years as a nation and following the recent beatification of our brother knight, Blessed Fulton Sheen!

It was a great experience of true Catholic fraternity from our great awards banquet, to impactful sessions, fun socials, beautiful liturgies, & our college Fourth Degree Exemplification! So many of our knights are returning to their campuses ready to mobilize men for mission and to support the ongoing efforts of evangelization.

Thank you to all of our college knights who participated this year!

A special thank you to the Thomistic Institute & the Archdiocese for Military USA for also joining us this weekend to engage with our college knights to help form them as missionary disciples!

The Knights of Columbus Council 18327 at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, has been awarded third place among Outstanding College Councils—an incredible feat for a council founded just three years ago. As the university’s first college council, these young men have quickly built a vibrant brotherhood rooted in faith and service through public Rosaries, active participation in Mass, and Cor meetings. The council also proudly celebrates its university’s rich culture by organizing Las Posadas during the Christmas season. This national recognition serves as powerful encouragement for these brothers to continue building upon the incredible foundation they have begun.

Celebrating excellence in faith, action, and campus leadership, University of Notre Dame Council 1477 has been awarded 2nd Place Outstanding College Council by the Knights of Columbus. From deep spiritual devotion to bold campus activism, these brother knights continue to be a powerful force for good by actively championing Catholic principles and the cause of life. This past year, the council hosted impactful formation talks on marriage, gathered the community for a sacred Requiem Mass in honor of their Grand Knight’s late father, and successfully led campus-wide efforts to uphold pro-life values. Watch to see how Council 1477 sets the standard for Catholic leadership and brotherhood on college campuses today!

South Dakota State University Council 15457 was awarded First Place Outstanding College Council for their exceptional fraternal spirit and dedication to mission. The council actively fosters Catholic fraternity through daily Mass, the Rosary, and bi-weekly Cor gatherings. This year, they expanded their campus outreach by collaborating with the Catholic Daughters to host a formal fundraiser. To deepen their faith, the brothers also completed a pilgrimage up Black Elk Peak, carrying a cross in devotion to Servant of God Nicholas Black Elk—a holy Lakota missionary and catechist who brought the sacraments and teachings of the Church to his people.

Today, the Church celebrates the beatification of Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, a brother Knight whose extraordinary gift for communication brought the Gospel to millions.

Long before social media, podcasts and livestreams, Archbishop Sheen understood the power of media to bring the Catholic faith into everyday life. Through radio and television, he spoke about Christ with clarity, confidence and joy.

Sheen embodied the call to put faith into action and share it boldly with the world. Today, Knights everywhere rejoice to call him Blessed, joining our founder, Blessed Michael McGivney, among the holy men raised up by the Church as examples of faithful Christian life.

May his example inspire us to use the gifts God has given us, and never be afraid to speak to others about Jesus in our everyday circumstances.
