APG Fall Conference: Purpose, Perseverance and Possibility - Staying the Course on Accountable Care, will gather senior executives, policymakers, and thought leaders in National Harbor, MD, to discuss the future of accountable care.

We hope that you will join us on November 5-7 at the Ga***rd National Resort and Convention Center, just minutes outside of Washington, DC.

Susan Dentzer, CEO and President of APG will moderate a General Session in which leading health care executives will examine financial and operational challenges posed by H.R.1. They will share strategies for organizational resilience and advocacy to protect patients and the health care system.

*General Session*
Aftershocks: Preparing For Structural Health System Change In the Wake of Reconciliation Legislation

Workforce shortages, relatively low public health insurance payment levels, and other pressures on the U.S. health care system will now be joined by one more: the effects of the recently enacted reconciliation law, H.R.1. The potential loss of health insurance coverage for 10 million or more individuals over the next decade due to changes in Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act will further squeeze finances, crowd hospital emergency departments, and imperil the safety net. In this session, key system leaders will move beyond merely “admiring the problem” and discuss how they will position their organizations for the changes in store. They will also address the need for further advocacy to blunt the law’s worst impact on individuals and the health care system.

Panelists include:
• Jerome Adams, MD, MPH, Former U.S. Surgeon General; Distinguished Professor of Practice, Department of Public Health; Presidential Fellow; Executive Director of Health Equity Initiatives, Purdue University
• Patrick J Cawley, MD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, Medical University of South Carolina Health
• Craig Kennedy, MPH, President and CEO, Medicaid Health Plans of America
• Kyu Rhee, MD, MPP, National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)
• Anthony Wright, Executive Director, Families USA

Spreading The Use Of Biosimilars In Physician Practices with Maisha Draves, MD, MPH

So-called biologic drugs, such as Humira and Enbrel for autoimmune conditions and Herceptin and Rituxan for cancers, are the most expensive drugs in health care, and their biosimilar equivalents cost about 30 percent less. As more biosimilars launch in the United States and achieve greater availability on formularies, new opportunities exist for prescribing them and educating patients on their availability and use. Panelists in this session will discuss the importance of biosimilar prescribing in the value-based care context and offer case examples of strategies to boost patient acceptance and other enablers of greater use.
