Circle of Friends - The Path to Inclusion

Circle of Friends - The Path to Inclusion Circle of Friends, a social inclusion program for students with special needs, brings the understanding and acceptance of differences to school campuses.

Circle of Friends (CoF) creates a supported network of friendships between students with special needs and their non-disabled peers, bringing inclusion to school campuses and into the community. CoF helps schools establish chapters on their campuses with two years of training and unlimited phone and email consultation. Through six workshops, CoF trains school Speech Language Pathologists, Special

Education Teachers and other School Administrators to become CoF Advisors for their schools, quickly and inexpensively starting a chapter. At the end of those two years, the program is self-sustaining with an option for continued support and use of the CoF logo. In addition, CoF organizes Circle Summer, a summer program of inclusion in West L.A. for teens and young adults with special needs, partnering them with non-disabled peers who provide social skills training through field trips to museums, movies, bowling, etc.

We are hardly 6 weeks into a new school year and across the country stories of bullying incidents have been reported to the news. We understand that this unfortunate reality is the thing a parent fears most and exactly why we will continue to push for inclusion and understanding in every school. πŸ’šπŸ’œπŸ’™
