WINTER (Women In Non Traditional Employment Roles) joins the National Taskforce on Tradeswomen's Issues, the building trades community, and advocates across the nation in mourning the tragic loss of Natasha Jones, a mother of four who was killed at her worksite in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

We extend our deepest condolences to her children, family, friends, coworkers, and all those whose lives have been forever changed by this heartbreaking act of violence.

Every worker deserves to return home safely at the end of the day. Workplace safety must include not only protection from physical hazards and occupational risks, but also protection from violence, intimidation, harassment, and threats. No individual should ever fear for their personal safety while earning a living.

As an organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for women in the skilled trades, WINTER reaffirms its commitment to fostering worksites that are safe, inclusive, respectful, and supportive. We stand firmly against all forms of workplace violence and recognize the critical importance of comprehensive prevention strategies, trauma-informed support, effective reporting systems, and strong partnerships among employers, unions, apprenticeship programs, and public agencies to protect every worker.

This tragedy serves as a solemn reminder that creating safe workplaces requires vigilance, accountability, and a collective commitment from everyone in our industry.

We stand in solidarity with Natasha Jones' loved ones and with the National Taskforce on Tradeswomen's Issues as we honor her memory and continue working toward a future where every woman, and every worker, can pursue a career free from violence and fear.
