We focus on primary care, dental, behavioral health, sexual health, and HIV support services. APLA Health’s mission is to achieve health care equity and promote well-being for the LGBT and other underserved communities and people living with and affected by HIV. We are a nonprofit, federally qualified health center serving more than 14,000 people annually. We provide 20 different services from 15

locations throughout Los Angeles County, including: medical, dental, and behavioral health care; PrEP counseling and management; health education and HIV prevention; and STD screening and treatment. For people living with HIV, we offer housing support; benefits counseling; home health care; and the Vance North Necessities of Life Program food pantries; among several other critically needed services. Additionally, we are leaders in advocating for policy and legislation that positively impacts the LGBT and HIV communities, provide capacity-building assistance to health departments across the country, and conduct community-based research on issues affecting the communities we serve.

Changes to Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) in HR 1 could cause 10 million people nationwide to lose their benefits by 2034 — and cut more than $900 billion in Medicaid funding over 10 years.

California stands to lose more than any other state. Millions of Californians rely on Medi-Cal for their health coverage, and the new work requirements in HR 1 put them at serious risk.

• Most Medi-Cal enrollees who can work already do — these requirements won't change that. They'll just create barriers that push people off their coverage.

• For Californians who can't work due to disability or illness, a single paperwork error on an exemption form could cost them their benefits.

• Medi-Cal is the primary insurer for Californians living with HIV. Losing coverage could mean thousands lose access to life-saving medications — right here in our state.

California built Medi-Cal to protect our most vulnerable neighbors. HR 1 threatens to dismantle that safety net.

Speak up now — tell your representatives to protect Medi-Cal. https://sevendaysinjune.org/

Thanks to cuts from the "Big, Beautiful Bill," community health centers like ours will face huge struggles in the coming years unless LA County voters vote YES on Measure ER.

Jim Mangia, president and CEO of St. John’s Community Health, urges voters to vote yes on Measure ER and explains why.

Recovery advocates and treatment providers in West Hollywood hosted a public ddiscussion focused on s*x after chems*x and recovery.

STD Awareness Month reminder: PEP is real, and timing matters.

PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) can help prevent HIV after a possible exposure, but you need to start it within 72 hours. Sooner is better.

If you’re worried som**hing happened, don’t sit with it alone. Reach out to a provider, urgent care, or an ER and ask about PEP.

If you’re at ongoing risk, PrEP is usually the better long-term option. In LA County, you can learn more about our services at aplahealth.org.
