Housing Choice Voucher applications open for a limited 48-hour window - mark your calendars now
The City of Hawthorne Housing Division will open its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Waitlist for online applications beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 12:00 AM, and closing Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
This is a narrow window, so residents interested in applying are encouraged to prepare their information in advance and submit early rather than waiting until the final hours, when high traffic could slow down the application system.
For those who have already applied in the past and want to check their status, Hawthorne Housing asks that you do NOT call their office directly, as staff are unable to provide status updates or reset login information over the phone.
Instead, check your status one of two ways:
• Online: Visit www.waitlistcheck.com and log in with the account you created at the time of application.
• Phone: Call 1-877-288-7045. Be prepared to provide your birthdate and Social Security number.
The City of Hawthorne Housing Division offers equal housing opportunities regardless of race, color, creed, religion, s*x, disability, familial status, or national origin.

We’ll be joined by BEAM’s Yolo Akili for a meaningful mental health workshop, Healing services 🤲🏾☯️✨ for a grounding sound bath, and Align Your Vibes Chiropractic & Recovery for chiropractic care and bodywork. We’re creating an afternoon centered around restoration, connection, and wellness.

Sistahfriends event last Saturday was about more than just getting together…it was about pouring back into our clients. 💛We created a morning where our SISTAHFRIENDS clients could come together, have fun, connect, and walk away with things that could truly benefit them and their households.

Sometimes, it’s not about having all the answers…it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, heard, valued, and cared for. 💛This testimonial was sent to me a few hour after our event on Saturday, and it reminded me exactly why we do what we do.

Our clients gathered together, laughed, played games, ate, connected, and for a few hours, had the opportunity to simply be…without having to think about everything they may be going through outside of that room.

That’s what SISTAHFRIENDS is about. Creating moments of joy, connection, and community while reminding people that they matter. 🫶🏽 And to LEAVE them better than they arrived. 💛
