Dressember

Dressember Official Dressember™ page. Dressember is a global movement of everyday advocate who use fashion a force for freedom.

Dressember uses fashion to advocate for people who've been exploited. As men and women take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress or tie for the 31 days of December, they are advocating for the inherent dignity of all. Dressember exists to inspire and empower a global community of like-minded people who are locking arms to face one of the greatest injustices of our time. The heart of Dressember is dignity-- that every person has the right to live a vibrant and free life.

🎉 Day 31 of Dressember

🌍 What began with one woman taking a stand has grown into a global movement.

💡 More than 23,000 advocates have brought visibility, courage, and creativity to the fight against human trafficking.

🌊 When we dress up with purpose, we prove that small decisions—repeated thousands of times—can ripple into lasting change.

Thank you for being part of this movement. Together, we are building a world where all are free.

Appa Rao’s story started with a normal, everyday mistake: boarding the wrong train and getting lost while traveling for work.

But what came next was anything but normal: he was forced into bonded labor as a shepherd, losing contact with his wife and daughter.

After two decades of exploitation and constant separation from his family, Appa Rao was finally rescued by local officials (supported by IJM). Then they joined forces with media and local NGOs, tirelessly scouring the country to find his family—and they succeeded.

Miraculously, he and his family were reunited after 20 years!

His story reminds us exactly why we’re dressing up and doing good: to make miracles like Appa Rao’s possible for survivors of violence and exploitation around the world.

🎉 Day 30 of Dressember

In 2006, child trafficking in Cebu was widespread, with little enforcement to protect minors.

💡 By 2010, IJM had trained officials and community members to identify and report abuse—leading to a 72% drop in child trafficking and the protection of 118,000 children.

👗 Dressember is proud to help support work that makes safety scalable.

👗 Day 29 of Dressember

Modern slavery includes forced labor, child trafficking, online exploitation, and more—and over half of victims are women and girls.

They are also three times more likely to experience physical and s*xual violence during trafficking.

Dressember stands for the belief that every woman and girl deserves safety and freedom—and we won’t stop until that is reality.

🎉 Day 28 of Dressember

Strengthen justice systems, and violence drops—every time. IJM programs in Cambodia, Uganda, South Asia, and beyond have protected over 10.8 million people from slavery, trafficking, and exploitation.

👗 Dressember is helping build a future where families are safe, children are protected, and perpetrators are held accountable.

This movement is bigger than awareness—it is changing history.

🎉 Day 27 of Dressember

In 2006, thousands of women and minors were being trafficked for s*x in this South Asian city.

💡 Since then, IJM and local partners have:

Rescued 438 children
Convicted 62 perpetrators
Trained 10,000 community members
The result? An 80% decline in minors being trafficked in public establishments.

When communities unite for justice, massive change is possible.
