The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado (APABA) and Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network, in partnership with our community co-sponsors noted below*, are organizing a Lunar New Year Gift Drive benefiting refugees in Colorado. With this gift drive, we are asking our Colorado community to come together to help make Lunar New Year a special time for these families.

Volunteers will be matched with refugee families served by the non-profit, The Cultural Development & Wellness Center’s Adult Education Program at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (formerly Asian Pacific Development Center), and will be asked to create a Lunar New Year basket or bag OR donate a red envelope for the family they have been matched with.

GET IN THE HOLIDAY GIVING SPIRIT EARLY!

We are excited to be kicking off the 6th Annual Winter Gift Drive for immigrant & Asian seniors in Colorado! This is a great way to get groups involved in a community service project for the holidays. We are trying to collect 400+ gifts for our seniors this year; and for many seniors, this is the only gift they will get for the holidays. For more info and to sign up to donate a gift bag for a senior: www.tinyurl.com/apa-drive-25.

Please also join APABA, Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network and other APA organizations in Colorado for our Annual Holiday Reception on Dec. 10! This year, we are excited for Social Fabric Hub -- our first Asian cultural center in Colorado -- to host the reception. Come network with the APA community, hear from APA community org leaders, enjoy delicious eats from APA vendors, and get in the holiday spirit with some great music! Donations for the gift drive (noted above) can also be dropped here at the reception! Sign up: apaba-colorado.org/upcoming-events

Message from the APABA Board of Directors.

09/03/2025

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado (APABA) stands firmly with the students of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. The rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and scholarships is part of a broader federal campaign to dismantle hard-won progress toward equity in education and the legal profession.

The current presidential administration’s attack on DEI initiatives threatens the pipeline for future lawyers from underrepresented and historically marginalized communities. These programs and opportunities have long been vital to ensuring that the legal profession is accessible to all and reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.

APABA will continue to support students through mentorship, scholarships, and programming that affirm our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We call on national leaders to end these politically motivated assaults and recommit to expanding—not restricting—opportunity.

Our students deserve better, and the future of our profession depends on it.

Sincerely,
APABA Board of Directors

We at APABA Colorado reaffirm our February 16 statement condemning the federal administration’s actions against immigrants and refugees and sharing ways you can help. In that vein, the last slides of this post contain information about our Free Legal Hotline in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean. Please share the information about our Free Legal Hotline with those who may be interested. We remain committed to fighting for the rights of immigrants and refugees.
