For 75 years, Friendly House has been the longest running sober living community for women in the country, and this award honors the people using their platform to make sure that work keeps getting seen and supported.

"I had just had my daughter three months early. She was a pound and twelve ounces, in the NICU. The ultimatum was simple: get sober, or die and lose her."

When she came to Friendly House, she says they opened their doors and their arms. Every time she fell, they picked her up. Every mistake, another chance.

Years later she came back, pregnant with her second child and on the verge of losing her son. They let her return when they didn't have to. They let her stay.

Today she's almost two years sober. Both of her children live with her, in their own home. She's working, and she's in school for addiction studies.

"They gave me more than I could ever dream of, and you can have it too. If you just give yourself a chance."

For 75 years, Friendly House has been giving women that chance. Join us Saturday, October 17 at the Beverly Wilshire to celebrate the women who rebuild their lives here, and the community that makes it possible.

Meet Jen Woodward, founder of Conscious Energy Awakening, as she shares her experience, strength, and hope. 💜

When Jen first got sober, she met Christina, who introduced her to Friendly House. Jen didn’t get sober at the house, but she went to meetings there, and it became so much more than meetings. “I am a very grateful heart that’s part of the Friendly House L.A. community, the first and longest-running recovery community for women, by women, in the country.

Friendly House turned 75, and I’m one of thousands of women who have been saved by this home. I am so grateful to have gone through the house, and later through Castle Heights on a scholarship.

People like you who donate your time and your money help save lives like mine. Now I get to share the message of recovery with other women, and this community of love keeps growing, just like it has for the last 75 years.”
