We’re so proud of our role in bringing Lombardo and Charlotte home after 17 1/2 years of wrongful conviction, and for helping them during re-entry and community building. Lombardo was a child and Charlotte was pregnant when they were arrested for a crime they did not commit. Repost from dignityinink

Charlotte Pleytez and Lombardo Palacios spent more than 17 years in prison for a murder they did not commit. The more of these stories I draw, the more I find myself seeing the same pattern again and again..unreliable eyewitness identifications and flawed confessions leading to wrongful convictions.

I truly hope Charlotte and Lombardo can now live healthy, peaceful lives, and that no one else has to endure what they went through. I also have deep respect for their families and the lawyers who stood by them every step of the way..🙏

Jane Dorotik spent nearly 20 years in prison after being convicted of murdering her husband. For years, she fought her conviction from behind bars on her own. Eventually, Loyola Law School’s Project for the Innocent took on her case and helped uncover serious problems with the evidence used against her..

I have so much respect for Jane’s persistence and courage and for the legal team that fought to bring her case to an end.🙏

A conviction can continue destroying lives and separating families long after a criminal case ends. This is why post-conviction representation matters.

We are honored to have fought for our client and overjoyed that his family will soon have him back.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate our third anniversary and to honor four innocent men who returned home last year after being freed from wrongful convictions and life sentences. Cumulatively, our four innocent clients lost 119 years to wrongful conviction.

It was deeply moving to hear from the resilient men and women who have endured one of the greatest injustices imaginable—and to celebrate alongside our friends and supporters who make this work possible.

Here’s to many more years of fighting for freedom and seeking justice.
