We don’t just help dogs and cats! A pet is a pet is a pet 🦎. Marcus reached out to us help after searching online for veterinary care for his iguana, Angelo. Angelo had stopped eating and was showing other concerning symptoms. Marcus is on government benefits and didn’t have the funds to cover the exam, and wasn’t sure where else to turn.

We were able to connect him with a veterinarian who specializes in reptiles, and Angelo was seen the very next day.

After the visit, Marcus sent us this message:

“I just wanted to send my appreciation from me and Angelo. If we hadn’t gotten this appointment, we never would have known that Angelo is actually a girl! We’re keeping her original name—no changes, lol. She might have an identity crisis :) The vet took very good care of her and she is doing great. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.” 💚💚💚

An older gentleman came in holding a kitten in his arms, with 2 other kittens in a box. He had seen this litter of 3 getting tossed out in his neighborhood and took it upon himself to help them. He brought them into the shelter but thankfully, due to our fellows in animal rescue at Luxe Paws, these kitties got to avoid kennel life. While we waited for Luxe Paws to drive over and take them in, we fed the hungry kitties and helped them decompress with soft pets. We’re so grateful to our friends at Luxe Paws for saving this trio, and to the man who stopped for them in the first place. All it takes is one person to switch from, “That’s so sad! Someone should do something about that!” to “I am that someone and I will do something.” He was touched and moved by our efforts at better Together Forever, by Luxe Paws, and by knowing these three babies would indeed live happily ever after.

URGENT. We don’t usually post pets that need an adopter, foster or rescue. But this one is really tugging at our heartstrings. Belle has an appointment to be surrendered to the North Central Shelter on March 23rd. Her beloved person was deported and not only did Belle lose him, she lost her home. A friend stepped in to help but is overwhelmed with caring for a young dog, working full time and having no yard. We helped out with a crate and connection to other helpful organizations like but it is still too much for the friend who took her in. And Belle deserves a big, full life where she is not crated all day.
At just 8 months old and 40 pounds, Belle is a beautiful, spayed young pup with a heart as big as her playful spirit. She adores people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is gentle with children.
Belle is smart, eager to please, and already knows basic commands:  sit, wait, drop it, and lay down. She’ll happily go to her bed when asked, patiently waits for her “FOOD” cue before eating, and listens for “FREE” to come out of her kennel. She even drops the ball during fetch-such a good girl!
What Belle needs now is a foster, adopter, or rescue who can give her the time, attention, and affection she’s been missing.
If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted, and joyful addition to your family, Belle is ready to meet you. Please contact Cinthia at 323-974-4117 before 3/23/26.

Our pet food pantry is a huge part of bTF’s program.
We keep it stocked through generous donations from local pet food stores, other animal welfare nonprofits, and when supplies run low, with funds donated specifically for the pantry.

It’s one of the simplest and most gratifying ways we can support the community we serve and help keep pets with the people who love them.

To participate in the pantry program, all pets in the home must be spayed or neutered — or the owner must be willing to have their BFF fixed. Spay/neuter vouchers are released each Sunday at noon through . 🐕🐈

When Maria reached out for help with her German Shepherd Rocky, she was worried. Maria is disabled and currently living in transitional housing after a period of being unhoused. She rescued Rocky from an abusive situation, and recently noticed he was struggling to walk on his back leg and seemed to be in pain.
Unable to afford a vet visit and unsure where to turn, she contacted us for help. We coordinated with her case worker and provided a voucher so Rocky could be seen at the vet in a calm setting, since he’s still wary of strangers and other dogs.
Rocky is now on anti-inflammatory medication and resting comfortably.
Maria shared this message with us afterward:
“Thank you for helping Rocky get the care he needed. Because of your support, I can keep being the dog mom he deserves. Rocky went from being abused and abandoned to finally having a safe home. Your help means the world to us.”
Stories like this remind us why keeping pets and their people together matters so much. 💛 Plus his cute face.

Last October, a woman came in with a matted dog she found and picked up on the side of an LA highway. We were here to help her get a city voucher to get him neutered, supported her with low cost vaccination clinic information and some pet food so she could take him into her home and try to help him avoid shelter life.

Well, a text message of thanks came in this week!

“I just wanted to let you know that everything is going great: We kept him, and now he’s the most beautiful boy in the world! Thank you so much for all your help with the vaccinations and neutering, I honestly don’t know what we would have done without your support! Thank you so so much! His name is now Zaya, bunny in Russian 🙂”

Bonkers the cat was actually very chill! Bill came to the shelter to ask about assistance for Bonkers, whom he originally adopted with his ex. When they broke up, Bill became Bonkers’s primary person.

Bonkers is his first cat, and Bill wasn’t sure what to do when he started showing signs of a urinary infection. On SNAP and a very limited budget, an expensive vet visit wasn’t something he could afford and he didn’t want to have to surrender his best friend because of financial hardship.

Our program was able to provide a voucher for veterinary care at North Figueroa Animal Hospital, and now Bonkers is feeling much better and can continue on being such a cool cat!
