No one tells you how quiet the house gets when a pet dies. You expect the silence at night, sure—but it’s the absence in the tiny routines that breaks you. The lack of a shadow at your feet when you open the fridge. The pause before you open the door, instinctively waiting for them to rush out and greet you. You don’t just lose them. You lose a piece of your rhythm, your routine, your reflexes. Grief for a pet is grief for a whole part of your heart you didn’t even know they filled.

My brother-in-law just adopted a new puppy. He's been crate training him for hours on end each day. It got me wondering, with the amount of time the little puppy stayed in its crate, was it necessary or just convenient for my BIL. What do you think about crate training?

💔 FOSTER NEEDED FOR RUBY 💔
Ruby was rescued from a backyard breeder, and impregnated by a standard poodle. She’s a little over 3 yrs old, 60 lbs. Good with dogs and kids.Ruby gave everything she had to her puppies. She was a gentle, loving mama… and then, just like that, everyone wanted her babies—but no one wants her. 😓
Now Ruby waits, confused and heartbroken, wondering why she’s been left behind.
She is the sweetest, most perfect girl who deserves love just as much as her babies did. She deserves a soft bed, a kind hand, and a second chance at the life she’s always given to others.
Please, help us rewrite Ruby’s story. If you can foster this loving soul, even temporarily, you will be saving her life.

As a young pup, I’m ready to learn and my new family (especially my fur sibling) are the best teachers I could hope for. Aren’t I the luckiest? Look at me, surrounded by so much love! O hi, I’m Kimble, aka the happiest dood on the planet right now. My new family is AMAZING and I’m especially excited to have so many human siblings to play with. They’re my absolute favorite! My new fur brother is awesome too, he loves fetch as much as I do! Wow, life is really looking up these days, I’m so excited for my incredible giant family! 💙

It’s me, Finian! Yes, I’m the XL, X-tra handsome, goodledoodle boy on the right. Don’t I fit in perfectly with my new family? CDR found my absolute perfect match and of course, it includes a fur sibling. YIPEE! Life was ruff when I lived outdoors, but the amazing new people in my life have made my dreams come true. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. Hi Everyone! My name is SIRIUS. My foster mom asked me to tell you about myself, so here we go! I am a 2 yr old gentle giant aka a 81 lbs Hunk-a-doodle. I had a rough start in life. Nothing is known about me before I came to a shelter. The shelter staff was super nice but the environment stressed me out a lot. They did say that they think I might be a Giant Schnoodle or maybe a Labradoodle. When my foster family picked me up from the shelter, I was very scared, but in a matter of a couple weeks I have come out of my shell and my foster parents say I’m a silly, goofy big ball of floof who LOVES snuggles. My favorite activity is rolling in the grass! My furry foster sister helped me learn how to get in and out of my crate, where to go potty (not in the house!), and my basic commands like Sit, Stay, Lay Down. I like walks, but not long ones. I really don’t need that much exercise. I don’t pull on the leash and I don’t react to other dogs when they walk by - I just look and stare at them. I do love my doggie friends. If you have one, I would be so excited to be a brother. Everyone I’ve met I instantly loved - I’ve met people ranging from 6- 75 years old and so far, I like them all. My foster mom thinks I’d be great for anyone who loves snuggles and is over the age of 6 - I can be a little clumsy so I better not go to a home with very little ones. I’ve also taken a trip with the foster fam to the vet and while I’m still unsure about car rides, I did great! I got a booster shot and didn’t even squirm. Oh yeah, did I mention I DON’T bark at the doorbell! Actually, I don’t bark much at all. That’s all I can think of for now. If you’re looking for a big d***y, goofy floof, I’m your guy. If you have a backyard for me to roll in the grass, even better. The rescue thinks I would do best in a home with another dog and someone home a lot. I just love hanging out with my people!
