Wise Up Wise Up! is a group for high school students in the Los Angeles Area to work together to bring just change for their community. Shortly after Wise Up!

As undocumented students graduated from California High Schools year after year they didn't know what their future would be like without a college education. Soon they realized that there was a need to organize to change the injustice that these hardworking students were facing. They needed to be able to pursue a higher education regardless of their immigration status. was born, and took this on a

s a campaign by engaging students from all parts of Los Angeles in this struggle. After doing student organizing, and working with other immigrant rights groups, Former Gobernor Gray Davis signed Assembly Bill 540 (AB540) into law on October 2001. Because of that organizing, now undocumented students have the opportunity to pay in-state tuition at any California college or university, if they meet the AB540 requirements. The law went into effect on January 1st, 2002, allowing student to continue on with their higher education.

URGENT: If you filled out the California Dream Application for 2013/14 (Dream App due today at midnight- caldreamact.org ), you ALSO must to submit your GPA verification form in order to have access to Cal Grants. GPA verification form must be postmakred by this Monday, March 4th, 2013 (the date was moved from June to now March....). If you have not done so, you NEED to get this form filled out this Monday. Some high schools and colleges send this verification form automatically to the California Student Aid Commission, but SOME don't, hence, you have to do the research and find out if your GPA verification form has been sent. If you have not completed 24 college units yet, and the 2013/2014 school year will be the first time you will get a Cal grant, you must get your GPA verification form filled out by your HIGH SCHOOL. If you have completed 24 or more college units, you must have your GPA verification form filled out by your COLLEGE.

*Community college students: you do not need to send the GPA verification form unless you are transferring to a CSU/UC for the 2013/2014 School year (Fall 2013) and you want to apply for a Cal Grant. If this is your first or second year at a community college, and you filled out the CA Dream Application, then you may be eligible for the Board of Governor's (BOG) Fee Waiver, and what CC students tell me is that they were not asked for the GPA verification since the BOG is based off of financial need.

For those of you that need to send your GPA Verification Form (and instructions), please go to this link:
