League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles

League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles The LWVGLA is a nonpartisan political organization. We engage, educate and empower Los Angeles communities. Be an informed voter! Join the movement!

This year marks the 100th anniversary of women achieving suffrage in California, nine years before the United States Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting all women the right to vote. Officially formed more than 90 years ago, yet dating back to its efforts decades earlier, the League of Women Voters is a highly trusted grassroots, nonpartisan political organization, educating millions of people to become informed and active participants in government.

Happy Pride Month from the League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles! 🌈✨

This month and every month, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ leaders, advocates, and community members who continue to shape a more inclusive democracy. Pride is a reminder that the fight for equality, representation, and full civic participation belongs to all of us.

LWVGLA is proud to stand for a democracy where every voice is heard, every voter is protected, and every person can live with dignity and freedom.

Earlier this month, the League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles was proud to host a District 5 Candidate Forum at The Ebell, bringing community members together for a thoughtful and informative discussion ahead of the election. 💙🗳️✨

We extend our sincere thanks to The Ebell’s CEO Stacy Brightman and team for welcoming us, and to our former Executive Director Raquel Beltran for moderating the forum with care and clarity.

The forum featured candidates Henry Mantel, Katy Yaroslavsky, and Morgan Oyler, who discussed important issues facing District 5, including housing, public safety, homelessness, economic development, and more.

We are also grateful to Raquel’s granddaughter, Sophia, for leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and to our Co-President Laurice Sommers for supporting and mentoring Sophia in this special role.

Thank you to the League members, volunteers, and community members who attended and helped make this forum possible.
