That wraps our BikeLA x Lime San Fernando Valley group ride series, and what a ride it’s been. 🚲

Bike share does something powerful: it removes the barriers. No bike to buy, no gear to store, no expertise required. You show up, unlock, and ride. For so many people, that’s the first step toward seeing their neighborhood in a whole new way.

Thank you to Dorothy Wong for leading every ride with so much heart and expertise, you made it easy for people to take that first pedal.

The Valley showed us what’s possible when we ride together. This is only the beginning.

Our streets should work for everyone. 🚶‍♀️♿🧒👵

Not everyone walks at the same pace. Kids, older adults, wheelchair users, and people with strollers or guide dogs all deserve time and space to cross safely. That means:

🏫 Slowing down near schools
♿ Curb ramps that work for all of us, not as an afterthought
⏱️ Signal timing that gives slower crossers extra time

Safe streets start with designing for all of us.

This wraps up California Pedestrian Safety Month, but the work doesn’t stop here. Keep looking out for your neighbors, slow down, and speak up for safer crossings in your community. 💛

🚦 **DESIGN THAT MAKES SLOWING DOWN NATURAL**

Speed is the #1 factor in whether a pedestrian survives a crash — and it’s not just about driving carefully, it’s about street design that makes slowing down the natural choice. 🚶‍♀️🚗

Here’s why design matters:

🟡 **Rapid Flashing Beacons** can boost driver yielding rates from under 20% to over 80%
🟠 **Speed bumps** force a sudden change in elevation, making speeding physically uncomfortable
🟢 **At 20 mph**, most pedestrians survive being struck

And the numbers back it up: at 40 mph, a car needs nearly *double* the stopping distance it does at 30 mph. That 5 mph gap? It can be the difference between life and death.

Slow streets aren’t an inconvenience — they’re lifesaving infrastructure. 💙

Week 2 of California Pedestrian Safety Month!

It’s not just drivers — it’s pedestrians too. Street safety is a shared responsibility, and one glance at a screen can mean missing a changing signal or a turning car.

A few numbers to sit with:
📏 A driver going 35 mph can cover 150+ feet in the time it takes to read a text — that’s nearly half a football field, blind.
🎧 One earbud out near intersections can make all the difference.
👀 Look twice — left AND right. A quick glance isn’t enough when attention’s already been stolen.

Whether you’re behind the wheel or on foot: eyes up, phones down. Both ways.
