On the day Picosso was supposed to be euthanized at the Downey Animal Shelter we saw him- blind and absolutely terrified circling in his tiny cage. Knowing he had hours left we made a plan to save his life and that night he was finally in a safe foster home and out of the shelter for good. Needless to say, after it was clear he lashes out when being touched or handled he lost his foster home pretty quickly. He’s been with me ever since. My home is typically a place where vulnerable dogs in unsafe situations can come to immediately while we find them a more long term place to go. But with Picosso here full time, that spot for a vulnerable dog is unavailable. The spot Picosso is taking up could otherwise be used as a lifeline for other dogs whose life is about to be cut short. We’re desperately searching for someone who asks themselves “what can I do for this dog” rather than “what can this dog do for me.” Picosso is NOT a hard dog if you respect his boundaries consistently. I could write a whole handbook on how to get him to the point you see in the video where he actually seeks out your attention. He just needs a person willing to actually give him a chance! You wouldn’t be alone, we would be there to guide you every step of the way. Picosso adores cats (somehow he knows) and is fantastic with dogs too. You can easily call him and coax him outdoors or indoors and he gets the layout of your house in less than a few hours. He’s 8 years old and a whopping 8 pounds. We are seriously going to need the help of the community to share our boy and find him a loving adopter or foster- it hasn’t been easy! Out of state transportation would be considered to the right applicant🩵 If you would consider fostering or adopting Picosso, PLEASE fill out our foster application linked in our bio! Our DMs are inundated with requests, please take the time to fill out the application we can contact you off of social media. 🙏 📍Long Beach, CA
