Did you know? Alcohol is a carcinogen (a substance that has the potential to cause cancer), the consumption of which is a major risk factor for breast cancer. Drinking 1-2 drinks per day has been associated with an approximate 30-50% increase in breast cancer risk (Alcohol Intake and Breast Cancer Risk: Weighing the Overall Evidence- McDonald , Goyal , and Terry). Turn down for what? Your health. Huge financial profits are made from the promotion, sale, and consumption of alcohol. The more alcohol consumed the greater the risk. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we seek to raise awareness about these risks and emphasize the importance of screening for breast cancer. By promoting awareness of breast cancer, advocating for alcohol abuse prevention, and promoting healthier alternatives, we can contribute to better public health outcomes and empower individuals to make informed choices about their well-being.
