If you know a girl who is entering high school this fall and is a current or former foster youth, or the child of an incarcerated parent, this could be a life-changing experience.

✨ The Retreat
📅 August 3–7, 2026
📍 Camp Wasewagan, near Big Bear, CA

High school is a huge transition, especially for youth who have already experienced adversity. This fully funded retreat offers a safe, nurturing space to:

🌿 Rest & recharge
🥾 Explore nature through hiking
🏊 Swim
🎨 Create art
🤝 Build friendships
💛 Reflect, heal, and prepare for the next chapter

With only 15 spots available, participants will unplug from technology, enjoy the beauty of nature, receive support from caring adults (including a Licensed Family Therapist on site), and head into high school feeling more grounded and confident.

All transportation, meals, lodging, and activities are provided at no cost.

Please share this with foster parents, caregivers, social workers, CASA volunteers, educators, therapists, and anyone who may know a deserving young woman.

Each year, our festival brings together adoptees, foster youth, birth/first parents, adoptive parents, kinship families, and allies to share powerful stories through creative expression. Through art, film, dance, poetry, music, theatre, and spoken word, we create a space where voices are heard, experiences are honored, and healing can begin.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month 💙

As the founder of Celia Center, this mission is deeply personal to me. I’ve seen firsthand how the foster care system can shape a child’s sense of safety, identity, and belonging for better or worse.

Right now, we have an opportunity to create meaningful change.

AB 1018, introduced in the California State Assembly by is a critical step toward increasing foster care payments ensuring that caregivers have the resources they need to provide stability, consistency, and care for the children who depend on them.

This isn’t just about funding.
It’s about dignity.
It’s about making sure children in foster care are not placed in environments where scarcity adds to their trauma.

When we invest in caregivers, we invest in healing.

We invest in better outcomes for children who deserve every opportunity to thrive not just survive.
