ONYX SoCal-Southwest

ONYX SoCal-Southwest Onyx is an organization that supports diversity in the gay/bi leather community. Support, spirituality, safety and saneness are keys to attaining our goals.

For over twenty-six years, the organization has been the bridge between leather men of color and the broader leather community. ONYX Southwest (which encompasses the LA / San Diego / Palm Springs areas) and Southwestern States (i.e. Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah) is an organization formed and operated by People of Color who enjoy the leather lifestyle. ONYX sets as its' goal to provide an in

formational and social organization to address issues specific to people of color who choose to project the positive aspects of the leather lifestyle and support our community and economic initiatives. Toward this end, it is the principle aim of ONYX to develop in its' members the highest standards of loyalty to the laws and established code of ONYX and to treat all in society with honor, unselfishness and tolerance. It is the responsibility of each member to uphold the traditions, standards and practices of this organization as well as the time honored principles of democracy on which this country was built. It is the fundamental belief of this organization that no finer means is offered for the achievement of these aims than the brotherly association of persons with similar tastes, inclinations and goals

Six individuals from the Southwest Convergence pledge line are about to take the oath on Saturday, May 30th, and officially earn the right to call themselves ONYX men.

With two from Los Angeles, three from Phoenix, and one from Las Vegas, ONYX Southwest continues to grow its presence across the Southwest region. We now officially have boots on the ground in four out of the five states associated with our chapter, a milestone we’re incredibly proud of.

This is more than just a title. It’s about brotherhood, visibility, service, accountability, and continuing the legacy of ONYX in spaces where we deserve to be seen and represented.

Will you be next? If you’re in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, or Utah, applications for our next pledge line will open in November/December 2026. Don’t miss out!

Huge congratulations to Honey Davenport, our new Mr. International Leather 2026, and Atlas Rose, our new International Mr. Bootblack 2026!

We are looking forward to seeing where both of your journeys go from here and the energy you’ll bring to the community over the next year. An all POC podium at IML feels correct! It's powerful, inspiring, and honestly overdue. It is one of those moments that reminds us that we belong in these spaces, too, not just as participants, but as leaders, titleholders, and visible members of the leather community.

Late post, but we still wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by our booth (52) at the Off Sunset Street Festival on Sunday, the 3rd!

We had an amazing time connecting with the community, meeting new faces, catching up with old friends, and sharing laughs throughout the day. As always, the energy was incredible, and yes, our spanking booth kept things entertaining for those brave enough to try it.

Thank you for the support and for continuing to show love to ONYX Southwest. Events like these remind us why community visibility and connection matter so much.

Until next time… stay kinky, stay safe, and keep supporting your local leather community.

We had a great time this past Sunday, May 17, participating in the Leather Beast x Hot Chocolate collaboration at Bullet Bar.

Our Brother, Ascary Scott Navarro (Navarro ONYX), joined Avatar Club LA in providing safe, consensual demos throughout the event, helping create an interactive space centered around communication, consent, and play.

From the dancers and drag performances to the vendors, giveaways, leather, complimentary BBQ, and treats, the night was packed with energy, community, and fun.

A huge thank you to Quinten of Leather Beast for inviting us to participate. We're excited to connect with the community and be part of this collaboration.

Over the last month, Southwest Convergence, our current pledge line, dedicated its time to volunteering with various non-profits throughout the Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Las Vegas communities as part of their pledge process. While helping shape them into the best possible leather men, kinksters, and community leaders remains a primary goal of ONYX Southwest, philanthropy and service are equally important to who we are and what we stand for.

Giving back is about more than writing checks. While we proudly support numerous non-profits throughout the year through financial contributions, donating our time is just as meaningful. Volunteering allows us to connect directly with the communities we serve, build relationships, learn from others, and remind ourselves that leather and kink are rooted not only in brotherhood and self-expression but also in compassion and service.

Through these volunteer efforts, our pledges moved beyond nightlife and social spaces to work directly with organizations such as the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and RipplesPHX, creating a meaningful impact in people’s lives every day. On May 16, 2026, while volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, we also donated $600 to support its ongoing mission of fighting hunger and serving families throughout Los Angeles County.

These experiences serve as a reminder that being part of the leather and kink community is about more than events, bars, or play spaces. It is also about service, compassion, and how we show up to support others when our community needs us most.

We are proud of the work Southwest Convergence has already accomplished, and even more excited to watch them continue growing into leaders who understand the importance of service, visibility, and community care alongside leather, kink, and brotherhood.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made Kinky Junction such an incredible event at Eagle LA. What we created together was more than just a beer bust; it truly felt like a crossroads where community, connection, and brotherhood all converged under one roof. This was our Southwest Convergence pledge line event takeover, and they did just that.

Seeing Arizona, California, and Nevada come together with such energy, openness, and support reminded us exactly why ONYX Southwest continues to grow stronger across state lines. From the music by DJ Candy to the Jell-O shots, raffles, demos, drinks by Eagle LA’s mixologists, laughs, and conversations shared throughout the evening, every moment added to the experience.

A huge thank you to our sponsors: Eagle LA, Rough Trade Gear, Fit PUP Gear, Timoteo Studio, The Fight Magazine, and Cellblock 13.

Catch us next Friday, June 26, from 9 PM – 2 AM, for our next bar night. Until then, stay kinky, connected, and keep building community.

On Saturday, May 2, we had the pleasure of attending the SunLit Men of Color Retreat, formerly known as Blatino Oasis, in Palm Springs, curated by the incredible Joe Hawkins. For nearly 20 years, Joe created a one-of-a-kind space centered on s*x positivity, erotic expression, healing, community building, and empowerment specifically for gay men of color. What made SunLit so impactful was its ability to go beyond celebration by also creating opportunities for education, reflection, personal growth, and authentic connection in an affirming, s*x-positive environment.

For ONYX Southwest, this retreat holds a special place in our hearts. Since 2016, SunLit has been one of our signature events and an important platform for introducing many attendees to the B**M and leather lifestyle in a welcoming, intentional, and culturally affirming way. Through demos, conversations, visibility, and fellowship, we’ve had the honor of helping people explore new parts of themselves while building lasting community.

It’s bittersweet knowing this marks the final year of the retreat. Spaces like SunLit are rare, and the impact they’ve had on so many lives cannot be overstated. We are deeply grateful to Joe Hawkins for his vision, dedication, and years of labor in creating something truly transformative for our community.

Thank you for the memories, the connections, the growth, and the love. We wish Joe and his staff nothing but continued success, peace, and fulfillment in all of their future endeavors. Your work mattered, and it always will.

Recently, our Brothers based in Arizona were invited to attend RipplePHX’s Monthly Team Dinner at their office. It was a gathering created to bring Ripplemakers together in fellowship, collaboration, and shared purpose. These monthly social hours provide an opportunity for team members to connect, strengthen relationships, and deepen their understanding of RipplePHX’s mission and impact within the community.

We are honored to have been welcomed into this space and grateful for the opportunity to build meaningful connections with an organization that shares a commitment to community and collective growth. Collaborations like these remind us of the importance of coming together across different spaces to support one another and create lasting impact.

Thank you to the RipplePHX team for your hospitality and inclusion. We look forward to continuing this relationship and are excited to see what the future holds.
