Every year around this time, we do an event called "Unidos en Gratitud" - United in Gratitude. We have partnered with local organizations to provide snack bags for underprivileged and food insecure community.

This year, the need is greater, due to the government shutdown and lack of resources, many families will not have funds for meals much less a Thanksgiving meal.

We are doing a fundraiser to support local families anonymously during the Thanksgiving season and supplement a Thanksgiving dinner.

With your donations, we want to reach as many families in our community as possible.

Any donation amount will help.

This is the second year we partner with the Garden Church in San Pedro to provide paper snack bags with 2,000 calories to individuals with food insecurity.

This is an opportunity for students to volunteer and write positive message in Spanish and English on the paper bags that will be used to distribute the snacks.

If you are interested in volunteering or donating snacks, please email at [email protected] for more information.

It is Women’s History Month and I want to acknowledge the history of women’s’ movement, all the rights once denied but now recognized, celebrate the progress that has been achieved, the work still to be done, and above all, always collectively work together to create more opportunities with an inclusive community.

We had a great event on Sunday celebrating and sharing arts & crafts for Dia de Los Mu***os with the community.

Special thanks to Deshanta Garcia for coordinating, Lori & Klein family for face painting, Ty Marumoto for face painting & creating the photo backdrop of Miguel from Coco movie and all the volunteers & families that came out to support the event.

Day of the Dead, or Día de los Mu***os, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated November 2. On this day, it is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit their living family members. Many people celebrate this day by visiting the graves of deceased loved ones and setting up altars with their favorite foods, drink, and photos.

The ancient indigenous people of Mexico have practiced rituals celebrating the lives of past ancestors for around 3,000 years. The celebration that is now known as Day of the Dead originally landed on the ninth month of the Aztec calendar and was observed for the entire month. In the 20th century, the month long festivities were condensed to 3 days called The Days of the Dead: Dia de las Brujas on October 31, Dia de los Inocentes on November 1, and Dia del los Mu***os on November 2.
