No new jails. Period.

While Sheriff Robert Luna pushes for a new mental health jail, our communities are demanding investments in solutions that actually keep people safe: housing, mental health care, treatment, and community-based support.

We don’t need more cages disguised as care.

The people have already made it clear: NO NEW JAILS.

Share and help us spread the word.

Every L.A. County resident pays $3.32 every year to cover the costs of carceral violence.

For property owners, that number jumps to $19.04.

Fact: millions of public dollars are being spent on the consequences of incarceration, violence, abuse, and misconduct instead of the investments our communities need.

We all pay the price when L.A. County chooses punishment over people.

$117 MILLION.

That’s how much L.A. County paid in carceral litigation costs in 2025 alone — money spent on harm, abuse, misconduct, and violence tied to incarceration instead of the care our communities actually need.

The report from Million Dollar Hoods, The Costs of Harm, lays bare the true price of investing in punishment over people.

We deserve budgets rooted in care, not systems that continue to cause harm and drain public resources.

Comment “MDH” and we’ll DM you the report.

The data and numbers tell a story and that story is about priorities.

Coalition member, Maya of and talks about why we fight for Care First services and what it means to invest in people instead of punishment.

Because behind every number is a real person, a real community, and a real opportunity to choose care.
