Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation Our mission is to grow a vibrant, equitable, and caring community by connecting our neighbors with opportunities to make lasting local impact.

Community building is not accidental. Since 1991 the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation has provided leadership and funding toward the many treasured programs and assets that our community values. In a number of cases, we have stepped in and provided leadership and support for valuable community programs, thus saving them and allowing them to grow.

May is National Older Americans Month and we’re spotlighting two of our Local Impact Collective projects making Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View a better place to grow older.

is helping seniors prepare for emergencies, wildfires, power outages, and the unexpected — so no neighbor weathers a crisis alone. With a grant from LAMVCF’s Fund for Los Altos Seniors, RLA puts preparedness directly into the hands of older adults who need it most.
CAFE (Center for Age-Friendly Excellence) is helping cities design for every age, including the City of Los Altos’s new Age-Friendly Action Plan (2025–2028). Age-friendly means better sidewalks, accessible transportation, housing that works as we age, and programs that fight isolation.

We visited the .ca Bubb Elementary School garden today where we learned about how to grow a Three Sisters Garden and the history of Living Classroom. Fun fact: Living Classroom was once fiscally sponsored by LAMVCF and is now a grantee!🪏🌱

Big news!

After months of ideas, innovation, and inspiration, we have a winner… 👏 👏 Big news 🎉 Their winning idea, “Live Where You Work. Retire Where You Belong,” reimagines how we create housing locally by turning underutilized spaces like ADUs, spare rooms, and small units into real opportunities for essential workers, seniors, and long-time residents.

By pairing homeowners with community members in need, supported by rental subsidies, trusted matching, and ongoing support, their model creates immediate, stable housing without waiting years for new development. It’s practical, people-centered, and rooted in what our community needs right now.

And there’s no better time to celebrate this work, May is Affordable Housing Month. 🏡
Because everyone deserves the chance to live and stay in the community they serve. Donate to LAMVCF’s housing partnership fund through the link in our bio!

May is Affordable Housing Month, and we’re celebrating the people building a more inclusive Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
This month, we’re proud to spotlight two incredible grantees:

— the first community land trust in Mountain View, led by working-class Latino immigrants, working to acquire and preserve affordable housing in community control for generations to come.
— providing housing navigation, benefits assistance, and mentorship to neighbors experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Santa Clara County.

The City of Mountain View invested $1 million into our affordable housing partnership fund. Donate directly through the link in our bio.
