Happy Shavuot

As the sun sets, Shavuot begins — a time to honor the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the completion of the counting of the Omer. From the reading of Ruth to sweet dairy traditions shared around the table, may your holiday be filled with joy, gratitude and meaningful moments with loved ones.

This year, Shavuot and Shabbat fall back-to-back, so we're also wishing our Hadassah family a meaningful Shabbat!

Remarkable and compassionate work

Join us in congratulating Dr. Esi Sharon- Sagie, director of the oral rehabilitation graduate program at the Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Dental Medicine, on being selected as a recipient of the 2026 President’s Award for Volunteerism.

Alongside her role as a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Rehabilitation at Hadassah, Prof. Sharon led the Israel Police Volunteer Dental Identification Unit during one of the most painful and difficult periods in Israel’s history, helping identify victims following the events of October 7 with extraordinary professionalism, compassion and dedication.

“The selection of Prof. Sharon for the President’s Award for Volunteerism is a recognition of the very best of Israeli society and of the values that define Hadassah: unconditional commitment to others, combined with dedication, compassion and humanity,” said Hadassah Director General Prof. Yoram Weiss.

Hadassah Board Chair Dalia Itzik added:
“No one is more deserving of the President’s Award for Volunteerism.”

Reflecting on the recognition, Prof. Sharon shared:
“I am proud and continue to draw inspiration from the extraordinary unit alongside which I served.”

Today, we honor Prof. Sharon and the entire volunteer team whose work helped bring dignity and closure to grieving families during unimaginable moments.
