Members Toni Mikrut & Josephine Tarmina brought a special month end treat April 30th for Los Alamitos Firehouse #2. Home cooked meal of rigatoni and meatballs along with salad, brownies, oranges & apples. Unfortunately, they had just gone out on a call when it was delivered, but duty calls & they shared how thankful & appreciative they were to return from the call to such a delicious meal and help fuel them for the next. Thank you ladies for showing them some Unit 716 love on our behalf! 🫶🚒🍝🥗🇺🇲

Tonight our unit's music program chairman Lori Ryon had the honor & privilege of attending Pacifica High School's Band banquet and presenting the program with a $500 donation/award in recognition of their achievements & continued support of the fine arts and youth talent development. These Mariners were truly a pleasure and just as talented.

We were honored to support & attend this year's 9th annual month of the military child event organized by Strong Families Strong Children held at cottonwood church in Los Alamitos. We setup a military child table display and an interactive craft station for military children to make their own dandelion potted flower (because military children bloom wherever they land), made/donated 200 event buttons for the families, and even had one of our Junior members featured as one of the event's youth speakers. Organizers provided a resource fair, essential giveaways, interactive games/inflatables, lunch & recognized every military child in attendance by reading their names and presenting them with custom certificates. Such a wonderful experience and event & appreciate everyone that assisted in making this happen! 💜🇺🇲🪖

April was a busy month for our Unit & members so catching up on sharing some of the events, starting with Easter celebration for National Guard families at Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base on April 3rd. Auxiliary and SAL members assisted with event setup, meal service & donated Easter baskets, water & chips. The event included lunch, games, egg hunt & story time with the Easter bunny himself. 🐰🇺🇲🪖

Great way to virtually show your commitment toward Poppy month/day coming up in May. More information will be forthcoming about donation opportunities at the Unit, but if you plan to support/donate at least $25 toward our poppy cause/efforts sign up for the virtual walk today (by April 30th) to show and encourage others and then we will share photos of our blooming efforts during the month. 🇺🇲❤️

Run, walk, bike, roller skate, swim — it’s up to you how you complete your 5K (3.1 miles)! You can finish it all at once or spread it out anytime between May 1–22, 2026.

Our Auxiliary Unit 716 will be attending and participating again in this year's Month of the Military Child event organized by Strong Families Strong Children. Please share if you know any local military families to they can register to attend and/or consider coming out to volunteer with us as we show these children/families that they are heroes too. We'll be offering and facilitating an interactive themed activity/craft table as part of the resource fair.
