💙🦁 Lions in the Community! 🦁💙

What an incredible day at the United Community South ALX Block Party on Saturday 8/22! Despite the rain, the celebration moved indoors and turned into a wonderful afternoon of connection, fun, and community spirit.

Our Mt. Vernon Evening Lions Club team was proud to be there as a sponsor, sharing information about our vision and hearing programs, eyeglass collection efforts, and opportunities to serve our community.

A huge thank you to Lions John Harris, Lion Dolores Seballos, Lion Melissa McIntosh, and Lion MaryKate Harris for representing our club with so much energy and enthusiasm! From engaging families at our table and sharing vision simulations to connecting with fellow vendors and community organizations, our team made meaningful connections throughout the event.

👓 We connected with community members interested in vision and hearing screenings
🤝 We met organizations interested in future partnerships
📝 We welcomed new people who want to learn more about our work
🎳 We had a little fun with our vision simulation games, too!

Most importantly, we were reminded of what happens when community organizations come together with a shared commitment to serve.

Thank you to United Community for creating such a wonderful event and for bringing our community together. We were honored to be part of it!

Our July meeting was full of energy, great fellowship, and exciting milestones!

We were honored to welcome our First Vice District Governor, Greg DeRosa, who shared updates on district-wide initiatives, upcoming events, and the great work Lions are doing throughout the district.

One of the highlights of the evening was celebrating Lion Dolores Seballos, who received the Dare to Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to our club. From her unwavering commitment to creating fun, engaging Tail Twisters that keep us laughing and connected, Lion Dolores truly makes every meeting more enjoyable. Congratulations!

The excitement continued as Lion Greg officially inducted our newest member, Lion Melissa McIntosh. Melissa has been part of our community for several years, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Lions family. We know she’ll make a wonderful addition to our club and our mission of serving others.

Welcome to the pride, Lion Melissa! We can’t wait to serve alongside you! 🦁💙💛

On Tuesday, June 23, we were honored to welcome Past Council Chair Glen Logan, who led our Installation of Officers ceremony as we prepare to begin a new Lions year. With renewed leadership and a shared commitment to service, we look forward to making an even greater impact in our community in the year ahead.

Unexpected detour? No problem! Our meeting venue may have been closed, but our spirit was wide open. We found a new place to gather, laugh, and reconnect. Another reminder that it’s not the place that makes the meeting—it’s the people. 💙🦁
