SWATT-NEWS | FROM PUERTO RICO TO A FOREVER FUTURE: BLACKIE’S PAW-SOME JOURNEY!
❤️ THANK YOU, SWATT FLIGHT ANGEL KARLA GARDNER CARNEY! ❤️
For Blackie, one tiny Puerto Rican puppy, the journey to a forever home began with a heartbreaking start — and a whole team determined to change his story.
Found fragile and scared on the side of the road in Puerto Rico when he was only a few weeks old, Blackie was given a second chance by a kind soul who rushed him to a veterinarian and helped nurse him back to health.
Today, this little survivor is thriving in foster care, playing, growing, and enjoying life with his foster siblings.
And then came the flight.
SWATT Flight Angel Karla Gardner Carney, a Florida-based local who continues to make an incredible difference in the lives of rescued animals during her retirement, took to the skies — flying to SJU to help Blackie and then flying him to BWI, moving one step closer to his forever future.
We often say that transporting is a PAWfect retirement gig — and Karla is proving it! SWATT is absolutely thrilled to have her so actively involved in our lifesaving mission. ❤️
Blackie’s journey is also a powerful reminder of something bigger:
This was a SWATT transport, carried out through the SWATT Flight Angel network and coordination.
That is how lives are saved.
One tiny survivor.
One carrier.
One flight.
One forever future.
And Blackie is proof of what can happen when our Team puts its heart in motion.
