The official support group of the Alcorn State University “Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite” Marching Band.

The SOD Club is an organization of committed individuals who have united for the sole purpose of supporting the general activities of the Alcorn State University Band program. We provide support to the current Alcorn State University Marching, Pep, Concert and Jazz bands as well as the ASU Symphonic and Chamber Ensembles. This support includes, but is not limited to, volunteering for various funct

ions, fund raising, solicitation of monetary contributions from any person(s) and/or businesses that wish to support the vision, mission, exposure, and longevity of the Alcorn State University Band program. In addition, the SOD Club provides support to assist in the social and academic advancements of the current student-musicians. All of our activities demonstrate our organizations’ full support of the Director of Bands, his staff, and Alcorn State University as a whole. The three levels of membership within the SOD Club are:

• Purple Level $50.00
• Gold Level $75.00
• Purple & Gold Level $100.00

🌟 DONOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟

The SOD Club proudly recognizes Curtis Young Jr., a proud member of T-Bone THUNDA from 2009–2013.

For Curtis, one of his most unforgettable SOD memories was his very first home game. Hearing the announcer introduce the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite as the band marched into Jack Spinks Stadium was a dream come true.

Curtis was honored to march under the leadership of two legendary directors, the late Mr. Samuel L. Griffin and Dr. Ronaldo Murray, whose influence helped shape his college experience and future success.

Reflecting on his time in SOD, Curtis credits the program with teaching him discipline, accountability, leadership, and personal growth. More importantly, it provided him with a family and lifelong bonds that continue to impact his life today.

“I gladly give back because S.O.D. gave me an opportunity of a lifetime.”

Thank you, Curtis, for your generosity and for helping ensure future generations of SOD members have the same life-changing opportunities.

🌟 DONOR SPOTLIGHT 🌟

The SOD Club proudly recognizes Courtney Windham, a proud member of the Alcorn State University Trombone Section from 2002–2006 and Section Leader in 2006.

For Courtney, one of her most memorable SOD experiences was marching into Jack Spinks Stadium for her first home game as a freshman. Having watched her aunt march into the old stadium as a child, stepping onto that field represented the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

She also credits the late Mr. Samuel Griffin for instilling invaluable lessons in leadership, discipline, and excellence—principles that continue to guide her today as a Regional Coordinator for the Region 4 Education Service Center in Texas.

Courtney’s generosity and commitment to the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite reflect the enduring impact of the SOD experience and the power of alumni giving back to the next generation.

What an incredible finish.

On behalf of the SOD Club, thank you to every alumnus, supporter, family member, and friend who participated in the 2026 Alumni Section Challenge.

Because of your generosity, commitment, and love for the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite, we are proud to announce that together we raised $28,229, surpassing our $25,000 goal by more than $3,200.

This achievement is a testament to the strength of the SOD family and the power of alumni working together to support the next generation.

With an outstanding $5,865 raised, the Percussion Section claimed the top spot on the leaderboard and earned the title of 2026 Alumni Section Challenge Champion.
