Recently my wife and were chosen to be part of Hunt for Vets and we had a great time. We wanted to take the time to thank you that made this possible. The opportunity to get out in the outdoors again after so many years means a lot. We will be happily eating the wild boar meat for a while.

From Bob and Julia Coleman:
Although the weather didn’t necessarily cooperate with our plans, we believe the rest and peace we found at the ranch was just what we needed. We are very grateful for the opportunity and can’t speak highly enough with regards to the entire staff.

Dear Sportsmans Foundation Donors,

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for making our trip to Okeechobee Outfitters happen. Honestly, it meant a lot to us. The food was amazing, the guides, cooks, and the host were awesome, and the hog hunting was something we’ll be talking about for years.

As an Army vet, this was the first time I’ve been able to experience a trip like this with my family as a whole. Seeing them out there enjoying the outdoors together hit me harder than I expected. It felt so good to finally share something like that with them.

The hog hunts were the highlight. It was my wife’s and her sister’s first time ever hunting, and they both were able to harvest a hog. The smiles, the excitement, that moment right after the shot I’ll never forget it. Watching them be successful and seeing how proud they were honestly brought me more joy than if I’d been the one pulling the trigger. They’ll remember that forever and so will I.

I also want to say this: the Sportsman’s Foundation is the first veteran organization I’ve seen that truly brings families into the experience. That means more to me than I can explain. Being outdoors with my own family and not with a bunch of veterans like so many other programs do made the whole trip feel more meaningful and real. It was exactly what we needed.

Thank you for giving families like mine a chance to make memories like this. We’re grateful in a way that’s hard to put into words, but I hope this note comes close.

Greetings!

This email is to thank you for your support of The Sportsman's Foundation for Military Families and to let you know what it meant for my family.

My son, Thomas, is an Army veteran who served several tours in Iraq with the 5th Special Forces group and who eventually became an Instructor for Pathfinders, the group responsible for providing navigational aid and setup for landing and drop zones for military aircraft. We are very proud of his service and are very grateful that he was able to return home to us.

He was contacted by Carla Santangelo in April and offered a weekend hunting trip and holiday for our family. We were surprised and delighted to learn that this program was real and jumped at the opportunity. We arrived at the camp on October 10 and Thomas immediately took his Dad out for his first experience hunting wild hogs while my daughter and I settled into the comfortable cabin and took in the beautiful surroundings. Over the weekend, the boys enjoyed several outings in the woods and Thomas eventually shot the hog! My daughter and I were treated to massages on Saturday afternoon and that was the highlight of the day!.

Carla and her staff could not have been more welcoming and kind. They served 2 delicious dinners and breakfasts (oh my goodness, the Eggs Benedict were fabulous 🙂 !). Our cabin was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had access to wi-fi, a fully operational kitchenette and a TV for downtime entertainment. Because we had flown in from the West Coast and Texas, we were unable to take home the entire hog. Carla graciously provided several pounds of processed meat and a small zipper cooler that we could carry on to the plane.

We left on Sunday afternoon feeling like we had made some great memories and friends. I hope that this program can continue and that more families like mine can be included in this very special experience.

So, thank you for your sponsorship of this wonderful organization. I feel like every penny was well spent to benefit our veterans and the families that support them.

Respectfully,
The Hotaling Family
Harry, Beth, Thomas and Caitlin
