Give a Kid a Chance Update:

The board of directors for Give a Kid a Chance - Lawrence County regrets to announce that the decision has been made not to host an event in 2022.

Give a Kid a Chance - Lawrence County prides itself in being a community supported service project, providing supplies and services to Lawrence County students as they return to school. Unfortunately, due to the ever rising cost of supplies and materials and the lack of sufficient support to adequately continue the services established, it was determined that hosting an event would not be feasible for this year. The GAKAC-LC board continues to seek God’s direction and continues to search for sustainable solutions to continue the mission of Give a Kid a Chance in 2023. We ask that you join us in praying for our students, schools, local community, and nation.

Anyone who may be interested, we ask you consider donating or getting involved with the GAKAC-LC program in the future.

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

Wow!!! What an incredible day at GAKAC-LC yesterday. It is always incredible to see our community come together to support our students. From each volunteer, church, business, and community partner, we are so thankful for each one of you. Without your support this would not be possible. Being a part of this event is life changing for all involved. We are so appreciative to be a small part of our student’s back to school journey. We pray this school year is safe and filled with lots of success, friendships, fun, and the love of Christ shining in each student’s lives.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

We are so excited to see our registered students and families today. We are pumped to be a part of your back to school experience this year.

Here’s what you need to know:

- It is important that the registered student attends the event. There are a lot of resources provided that require the student to be present.

- Plan to arrive at LCHS at the assigned time on your student’s card they received in the mail.

- When you arrive, park in the parking lot on the end of LCHS near the old Columbia State building. From there you will enter through the main front office entrance.

Wow!! What a great day yesterday preparing for Give a Kid a Chance 2021. We appreciate all of our volunteers who showed up to our packing party to prepare our backpacks for the event!! Backpacks are ready and the shoes have arrived!! We can’t wait to see all of our students next weekend!! Thanks again to all of our volunteers who helped pack backpacks, transport shoes, and get everything prepared for our event!!

We are in need of additional hair stylists and barbers to help provide hair cuts to our event students on Saturday, July 31st during the AFTERNOON SHIFT (Noon until). If you are a stylist/barber and are willing to help us ensure our students are prepared for a successful school year, please contact Abigail Law at (256) 398-2330.

EVENT UPDATE:

Our GAKAC-LC event date will be July 31st this year. Please remember that GAKAC is a pre-registration only event. All students attending the day of the event must have been registered. Registration for the 2021 event has met capacity and is closed.

Registered students and families will receive a post card in the mail in the coming weeks. This post card will provide your assigned time slot to arrive for the event and the event location. Due to the mass number of registered students, families should plan to attend during your assigned time slot. Please limit the number of family members that attend to help things move quickly. Once you arrive on event day, we will assign you to a group, and direct you through the event process. Please message us with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you soon!!!

As we approach our event date, we are always accepting donations to support the mission of GAKAC-LC. Numerous businesses, churches, community groups, and individuals come together to support our goal each year. Without those gracious donations, this ministry would not be possible.
