OUR MISSION:
With a focus on four pillars -- clean water, quality education, economic development, and community engagement -- The Maverick Movement works to support the residents of Hidalgo County, New Mexico. Hidalgo County's poverty rate is roughly 24%, higher than the statewide rate of 18% and over twice the national poverty rate of 11%. Studies find that Americans living under the poverty li
ne are likely to experience substandard child care, lack access to quality health care, and suffer from food insecurity. Children living in poverty conditions tend to drop out of school at disproportionately high rates, making it tough for families to break the cycle. The Maverick Movement's multi-pronged approach to community-building supports Hidalgo County residents in overcoming these challenges. With a focus on four pillars -- clean water, quality education, economic development, and community engagement -- we connect Hidalgo County residents with nonprofit organizations, social services, government offices, and other resources that help them address their critical needs and improve their outcomes. The Maverick Movement works to build a brighter future for current and future generations of Hidalgo County residents. We’re here to make Hidalgo County an even more enchanting place to live.
